For analog controllers, there is really only one gamecard to choose, the
PDPI L4 digital gamecard. Check it out here http://www.pdpi.net

Im driving my
one for 2.5 years now and just recently changed the pots. That unit is
really rock solid and a PDPI L4 fits nice to it. The L4 Thrustmaster
driver and the Hyper drivers, both work fine with that card.
I had some trouble with setting up the card, but after I bought a "SB
Live Value" everything is fine. For the L4 it is neccessary that the E/A
resources from the sound cards game port are adjustable.
Hope to see you on the track

Are you saying that the L4 is somehow better than the Lives game port ?
Did you try the Live's port by itself to compare ?
I'm asking because I'm about to receive a new system with a Live Value and was
hoping I would not need a game card. Thanks for any input.

The Live's gameport is awesome. While I have not had a ldpi, I can vouch for
the Live's port for smoothness. It's the best I've seen so far,

Anyone have any comparisons between the gameports of the Live and the
MX300? Is a PDPI worth it if you have either of these cards? They're
digital gameports on those soundcards anyway aren't they? Would the PDPI
be saving any fps over the soundcards?

both of the soundcards have analoge gameports. The PDPI is giving some
relieve to the CPU because it dont need to poll the gameport but I
doubt that this will cause any sinificant increase of fps. The PDPI
improves controller precision. You see it when calibrating the
controller. There is no flicker at all from the indicators in the
calibration menue. Most important, the driving feeling in GPL is smother
and you have better control. I dont know about the performance of the
Live gameport, I did not try or compare it with the PDPI port.
