I don't think it would be considered realistic being anywhere else except in the car when driving. I myself drive better when in the car but for viewing i perfer the rollbar cam. Steve!
After months driving GPL i thinks that the Roll Bar view is the best : Best vision of the track; Best sense of speed Best Frame rate Best control of the car ( driving is a bit more easy than in***pit view) instead the orrible F10 view why papy dont let us drive from roll bar with mirror an dashboard?? Anyone agree?

Hope I'm not 'over-stepping' the mark by mentioning that we are able to change the 'default' view by changing the drivingView setting in our player.ini file. I think the rollbar view is drivingView = 12... but don't quote me! :) Also don't flame me if you already knew this. Thanks. -- Rob. >After months driving GPL i thinks that the Roll Bar view is the best : >Best vision of the track; >Best sense of speed >Best Frame rate >Best control of the car ( driving is a bit more easy than in***pit view) >instead the orrible F10 view why papy dont let us drive from roll bar with >mirror an dashboard?? >Anyone agree?

I have no idea, I can't even imagine why I would try this. Seems like cheating to me, but then again, I'm weird. Don McCorkle Libertarian Motorsports

I agree with Don. When I'm watching race footage, I really enjoy the rollbar view, you can see hand technique, suspension flex and a good deal of the track ahead. But if I'm racing, I'm in the***pit. Why else did they put the seat in there? I guess if John Barnard or Patrick Head came up with a design that featured the seat up on the roll bar, I'd try it...but..... dave henrie -- On May 17, 1999 A Whale was killed off the coast of Washington State. NO I don't agree, I want to experience a simulation as if I am driving the car from the***pit, so for me the***pit view is the best.

Ti saluto! Sefano

Hmm, am I the only person that HATES driving from the***pit on almost every racing game? I know it's more realistic BUT you don't have that handy perifial vision on a computer screen, so it's harder to tell where you're at on the track, where other cars are, etc. So I always drive external view. I DO! In both GPL and N99 I have found a much better awareness of competitors' positions and track ahead with rollbar/external view. I don't believe it's any less realistic than***pit view, which weirdly locks the driver's vision straight ahead except for darting glances to either side (GPL) or "past-tense" rear-view mirrors (N99). As to the cheating issue, if a feature is part of the off-the-shelf sim, it should be considered a useable racing tool. This is certainly no less fair than doctoring files and begging for "cheats" in the newsgroups. Trey Behan
Considering GPL's lack of peripheral vision and no compensating feature in the mirrors like ICR2, your forgiven. :))
