sims, games and realism (Was N3/GPL physics etc)

1 post by 1 person · 23 May 1999 - 23 May 1999

With all of the recent controversy over the above, I can't resist posting the following taken from the London Times last week, in an article focussing on the ever greater processing and graphics power of the PC, and the implications for sims and games in general. " Today developer attention has moved on from graphics to other areas such as game physics and AI (artificial intelligence)...."The key industry buzzword now is 'smarter play'" says Victor Varney, director of developer relations at Intel. "Developers are no longer content just to improve the graphics of a game, they are now trying to model worlds that behave in a realistic way. Right now games look good but they don't act right" he says. " and so on. We live in hope !
