Details of GPL Boxing Day and New Year races

Eldred posted details of full-length GPL races at Watkins Glen on Boxing Day and Rouen on New Year's Day on his server. He was disappointed by the Boxing Day turnout, and the discussion moved to using the Sunday F1 slot for ETCC or the new DTM mod for F1 Challenge, with mixed reports on the DTM installer.

IIRC somewhere back you said you chose Rouen? Can ya give us all the details of when and where and anything else that may be relavent? I havent had GPL installed since before the turn of the century so it may not even be worth it to install. <Gasps from the crowd) IN case I do want to run GPL again what exactly do I need? Clean install of GPL, D3D patch, and Fast CPU patch? What graphics sound updates are most guys running? Thx <<<<---- Posted using Pineapple News for BeOS ----->>>>

I loaded GPL last night and I could actually get around a corner or two with out locking up the tires. I might have to give the flying kazoos another chance. :) MadDAWG

Dec 26, 9am eastern - Watkins Glen Jan 1, 9am eastern - Rouen Look for an epickett server, pw: 'ras' I'm running the d3d patch, but I have a slower CPU(so no fast CPU patch), and I don't have any graphics/sound updates. I been thinking about our Sunday noon ET F1 slot. The original schedule is done and the new season is a few months away. I'd be up for doing some ETCC - might even attract a few more drivers and maybe we could keep them onboard when the F1 season starts - wadya think? Sounds good to me. Now that I know that RASCAR will be running some sort of TA mod I would prefer to go with either ETCC or DTM on Sundays. And I agree that we should just run it until the normal F1 season starts. After that I would like to run 2003RH or a 2004 mod if it exists by then. I could be talked into an ETCC season. But I'd also like to return to the F1 cars in March when the real racing starts up again. I don't know why, I am so bloody slow in an F1 car. I've heard some initial enthusiasm for the new DTM mod, but haven't tried it myself yet. Were we going to try for something this Sunday? (the 28th) -- Darryl
The DTM mod is *really* nice. Cars handle great, and are a little faster than the ETCC cars. Some realy nice tracks included withe the mod as well. David G Fisher "Darryl Johnson" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:tY1Hb.15664$d%[email hidden]...

I'm not all that keen on the EA sims, other than F1C, but I've listened to Mitch and forced myself to have a go. The ETCC installs easy and actually grows on you. I found the only way to keep myself interested is to drive the BMW (rear wheel) - the other cars are too placid, a bit like CTS. I tried the DTM but after 2 humongous downloads it still tells me there are missing files so I have officially given up on it. Mitch ran an Interlagos ETCC last Weds. I'm not sure how many turned up as I tried but couldn't make it myself. I think it might be an idea to run it again on Sunday to start things off. It would be great if you could offer us the server but I understand the short notice will be a problem. I can run about 9 people (which is 3 times the usual F1C 'crowd') ;) Regards

What track were you thinking of, Neil? There are several I haven't even looked at, and if it's one of those, I'll need a _lot_ of practice time before Sunday noon. (I don't _learn_ new tracks any faster than I _drive_ them after I have learned them. <grin>) -- Darryl

Yep but I kept getting missing file messages. This is without doubt the worst install procedure I've come across in recent years - hope it doesn't reflect the general programming quality. Regards "David G Fisher" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]...

I was able to download and install without any issues. Not sure why maybe different versions on the different mirrors. I like the mod but it has a few graphics probs on my box. It feels like its "not quite" ready for prime time. Almost though. Mitch <<<<---- Posted using Pineapple News for BeOS ---->>>> Neil Charlton wrote:
