GPL - Annoying sound feature, or is it my puter?

9 posts by 6 people · 14 May 1999 - 11 Jun 1999

When online and braking for a corner close to another driver I can not distinguish my tire squeling from the other driver's tire squeling. This of course makes it very hard for me to outbrake someone. If the other driver locks up I hear tire squel and easy of my brakes which are not squeling, thus ending up with a much longer braking distance when I need a much shorter, and usually ends up in the yellow stuff. Does everyone have this feature or is it just my system? /Christer -- http://home.swipnet.se/~w-41236/ (Read all about the "Global online racing"-proposal under "For developers". Read it a couple of times, cause noone has understood it the first time they've read it yet :o)).

Definitley true Christer, I carefully watch my tires. That's what seperates GPL from all other sims, you can see the tire slow it's rotation in infinite degrees. Same as seeing the car rotate around it's longitudinal axis as you turn in and the weight shifts, it's there. JM - feel the force Luke...

Christer, Did you try turning down the number of sounds in the Options page? -don
Does that help? I currently have it at 5 sounds. /Christer

So you need a talent to distinguish sounds to be able to overtake in GPL? The thing is in my system, that it's the same sort of sound coming from the other cars that comes from my car. When it's barely hearable I dont know if it's my brakes or a distant other car. For GPL2 I would like to not hear the other cars squeling. I mean, why make it more difficult than it is in real life? I have outbraked a real racing car in real life, it's not harder than braking alone, except for the extra mental pressure :o). /Christer

I dont think it makes any difference, since it's probably the same sound, so either I hear all cars braking or no braking at all. /Christer

How come GPL doesn't have that cool sound option that allows us to mix the level of different sounds, like N2,N99, Cart does?
OK, the year 2000 messages were bad enough....where did you get your time machine from, anyway?
