I really hate it when something gets frigged and I have no clue how to fix it. So I shut down the system to plug in a joystick so I can fly Red Baron for the first time since last year and when I get back to windows(95) and double click on the game controllers icon nothing happens, so I try tm pro-panel and it says controller unplugged. Thinking that something is wrong with the joystick I plug back in my wheel and pro-panel says it's unplugged... oh fricken frack...Norton utilities can't find anything wrong, all utilities say my SB live gameport is working, drivers in place ????\ Please give me some direction here... Thank you!! JM

I had the same problem with my system. I have a SB Live Value and after going from my wheel to my CH stick, it would no longer find any of my joysticks. Still showed my game port as working ,etc. I took my system to the local computer shop and they could not fix the problem. I finally had to completely reinstall windows and all my drivers. I have not had any problems since. Hopefully someone has a better solution, because mine isn't fun.

This can be annoying, but it's not a show-stopper. Try this: In the Control Panel, click on System, then go to the Device Manager. Then select the Sound, Video and Game Controllers item -- under that you should see a selection for a Joystick driver (the full name will vary depending on what card you're using, but locate the item that says "Joystick" in it). Remove this item (click the Remove button), then close out the system properties box. Then, after doing that, click on Add New Hardware in the Control Panel and let your system auto-detect any "new" hardware -- it should locate your Joystick port and re-install it. This happens from time to time on one of my systems, mainly because I have multiple hardware configurations and I think it just gets confused in the Registry. Hope this helps. -- JB

Mr Adam Henry's solution may be the only one, but before I'd go that far, I'd try a few things... 1.) Reboot! - The number one cure 2.) Run setup from the windows CD and let it overwrite any files. You'll have the default windows options again, but you won't have to re-install apps (most if you're lucky). 3.) Remove the sound card and reboot. Shut down and re-insert sound card, let windows auto-detect it and you should be good to go. 4.) Fix a tall glass of ice. Fill well over halfway with Bourbon (Jim Beam preferably) add your favorite mixer and enjoy. It won't do much for the computer but it will make you feel better...<G> -- -/- Walk Walker Official HAL Backmarker > I really hate it when something gets frigged and I have no clue how to > fix it.
