GA-Sports posted some new shots of RC. They are *Awesome*.
The best shots I have seen for a racing game, ever.

You will not be dissapointed!

New screenshots of Rally Championship
Fans were impressed by new screenshots of Magnetic Fields' upcoming Rally Championship sequel, but some worried that the physics would not match the graphics. David G Fisher said realism was the developers' top priority and confirmed cockpit views and internet play, and a poster reported the release had slipped to August.
Automated summary.
It's nice of you to post these at your website. <g>

Looks pretty good. Have to wait and see about the driving model. And I
presume it's "dive anywhere" right, no invisible walls? Invisible
walls really ruin rally games.

a modem database being constructed so players can get together(?). They
need to support TCP/IP multi-player internet racing or it won't make it
to my PC...

All the screenshots look great and the discription sounds like it
will set new standards in Rally sims, but all the shots seem to
show the car from 3rd person.
A***pit mode is an absolute must for any title that is striving for
realism.
So for those of you lucky enough to have seen a beta, is there one?
Thanks.

There will be internet play, LAN, and serial link.

The only thing I can find about the physics is the next:
"Advanced car physics
Using independent suspension, enhanced crash sequences and
interaction"
Is there more information available?
Nice in theory, however history showed us that this is no guarantee
for a good simulation :-(
Yup, still concerned, though. I also fear there is only support for
DirectInput.
Remco

Yah, that's cool. ;-) I didn't reallyt mean "anywhere", just that
we'll be able to cut corners if the geography allows it, as in CMR.
Joe
Thanks David, those look great!
I'm really looking forward to Rally99 now.
I was a fan of their original Rally Championship (despite the walls,
the physics felt really good), but they lost their good physics when
they followed it up with the arcadey International Rally Championship.
If they use even the physics from Rally Championship, this one should be
a keeper.
Looking forward to it and hoping they concentrate on the realism side.

It's good to hear that, you do make a good point about being able to
see while the car is sliding sideways. I found that it worked ok
for me from the***pit view in their older title Rally Championship,
and even now in GPL when I sometimes have the car at extreme sliding
angles.
Perhaps after all these years of being used to driving auto sims from
the***pit view my brain has adjusted well enough not to need the view
to turn it's head into the corner. That's the beauty of view choices though,
as long as they have enough choices they can please both the***pit view
fans and the fans that want 3rd person views.
BTW. NFS3 sits on my shelf undriven because it doesn't allow me to have
the***pit view with my Voodoo2/8meg, I just can't get used to driving
without the***pit :-)
Thanks for the info, looking forward to Rally99.

developers of Rally99, please ask them to make sure they support
split-axis joysticks.
This is one reason that Colin McRae Rally doesn't get played often
enough on my system, I hate having to switch my wheel to single-axis
mode and do the Win95 new joystick thing just to go play one game.
With all the split-axis wheels on the market nowadays it really is a
requirement.

Well, I may be a cynic but I do like my eye-candy - these are
SWEEEEEEET! :-) If it moves as good as it looks and drives even half
as good it should be the definitive rally racer. I'm looking forward
to trying this one. CMR held my attention for about three stages
before going bac in it's box and up on the shelf - this looks WAY
better.
Cheers!

"May" be the best ever? Is there anything else that's even close? If
there is I can't think of it, unless ID are releasing QuakeRally
alongside Quake 3.
Cheers!

Rally Championship is now scheduled for an August release date. See

Man I was just starting to get e***d about this...
