Getting SCGT fullfield set

I just wanted to offer advice to people out there who have had trouble getting the really great fullfield hack working in SCGT (who included me until recently): don't use "rename" when changing your PLR file-be sure to use "SAVE AS". I was just renaming the file and my new player was not being recognized at start up-identical to other problems i've heard on this group. Renaming leaves it as a text file, "save as" converts it to the necessary plr file. The hack is awesome-and its not that hard to get it going once you do it right. dan biniewski
forth with: Huh?? What are you 'save as'ing from? I renamed it by hitting F2 and it worked fine. What program did you open it in and then 'save as' from? Notepad? Notepad adds a txt extension to anything it saves unless you surround the file name (including extension) in " marks. This should be completely obvious unless (for some unknown reason) you have elected to leave the default setting of hiding the extension for registered file types. I know that's one of the first couple things I change when I set up a Win9x installation, along with 'show all files'. ~daxe -----------== Posted via Newsfeeds.Com, Uncensored Usenet News ==---------- http://www.newsfeeds.com/ The Largest Usenet Servers in the World! ---------== Over 72,000 Groups, Plus Dedicated Binaries Servers ==--------

Well I had the same problems. I'd load a race and get the "error loading car stats" or something like that. The car would be running but stuck in the pits and not responding to any inputs. I finally just left the name stuff alone and added a guy called "Your Name" I figure it's just a dang demo and not worth it to dig thru all the funky symbols in the plr file to find and change the instances of "your name" to whatever name I wanted to run. Once I just left it alone as Your Name, the Big GT1 Porche rolled right out onto the track. HOWEVER! I do have a BIG problem with the controller setup. I can't assign any controller inputs to my T2. Yes it's setup in win95 but it is an older T2 that uses an adapter. I have the wheel and pedals separated going through a Joyswitch box so that I may also keep my Joystick/Throttle hooked up for flight sims...(and yes the older pedals work just fine for rudders in Longbow2 etc) But with the Wheel setup, I don't get an option to change the inputs for my controller, once I turned off the wheel and that option DID come up, but with no wheel connected I couldn't change the settings. So I'm left with a choice of having reversed gas and brake pedals...{VERY BAD!} or yanking out all my flight sim stuff, re-connecting the wheel and pedal into one plug and digging the adapter out of my desk drawer. then repeating the procedure in reverse to fly.... dave henrie >forth with: >>I just wanted to offer advice to people out there who have had trouble getting >>the really great fullfield hack working in SCGT (who included me until >>recently): >>don't use "rename" when changing your PLR file-be sure to use "SAVE AS".
