Hi all,
I have a Herc Thriller that was working great in my 233MMX machine.
I just built a 300A Celeron system and it is up and stable at 450 and
2.0 volts. However, I encountered an error (also happened at 300/66)
that says "PC DISPLAY SETUP NOT CORRECT." Then if I try to go to
properties, it gives me a blue screen (fatal exception error). I found
the error on the Thriller FAQ on Herc's website, but it says to remove
the old drivers, then reinstall them. Well, the drivers that were there
were ALREADY Herc drivers. I've uninstalled them and reinstalled them to
no effect. Still keeps happening.
I swapped the hard drive from my old MMX to the Celeron. I forgot to
switch to VGA before swapping it out. But I am using the same Thriller
adapter that I was in the old machine. The drivers are the same, and
Windows found them when PnP kicked at bootup of the new hardware.
Any ideas anyone??

Have you tired to increase the core. voltage to 2.1 or 2.2 volts ??
That *might* cure it...

No, he said it's happening at 300/66 too.

Your PC would probably be a lot happier if you do a clean install
of Windows. Just swapping motherboards and letting plug and play do
it's work *usually* results in a functional machine, but sometimes
it's not functional and sometimes it's non-optimal. After the full
de-install/re-install of the video drivers (as per Hercules'
instructions), which you've done already, that would be my advice.
I've done it both ways; I built a C300A/Thriller this fall with the
old HD, then did a clean Win95 install when I got a new HD. IT worked
both ways for me. YMobviouslyV. Good luck.

Dave, I had the same problem with my old Vraptor. I had to change the
adapter to standard vga, reboot with standard setting. After system was
back up, I went back into display setup and changed my adapter. Do not use
the adapter that shows in window. Instead select Have Disk and then browse
to the folder that contains the Thriller Drivers. If it says you habe a
newer version of a file replace them with the older one. This will guarantee
that all the driver files installed are compatible.
Start:Settings:Control Panel:Disply:Settings:Advanced:(change under the
adapter tab)

What motherboard are you using, the Abit BH6?
I did a very similar thing , except my Thriller is pci. I moved my existing
hard drive, Thriller, etc from my older Dell 233 mmx to the new
motherboard/chip. I'm running my 300A at 450, and am not having the problem
you are.
First thing I would check - if your Thriller is AGP, make sure the agpclk is
set to 2/3, not 1/1.
Second thing I would check, make sure you have the latest Thriller drivers
and bios ( their getting a little dated now) from the Hercules website.
If your Thriller is pci and the above doesn't help, try moving it to a
different pci slot. In some cases , the Thriller doesn't like pci slot1.
Another thought - if you have the Abit board, there is an option in the soft
menu to tell the system what where to check for the video card - agp slot or
pci slot - make sure this one is set correctly.
Hope some of this helps,

Hi Dave,
FWIW I'll add my 2 cents.
First have a look at [link lost in import: /***ion/]
This web site is dedicated to the Rendition chipset and has lots of
good stuff and advice.
Also try [link lost in import]
drivers they provide. Hercules seem to abandoded all updates for their
Rendition chip boards but the refference drivers from Rendition are as
late as Febuary 1999.
Hope you find your answer.
Cheers
