Just wanted to let you know my experience with GPL and the fact that it
was always freezing. T make a long story short I have a decent system
(PII MMX 400 with tons of memory and a Diamond Monster I. I read lots of
messages regarding this darn freezing problem and like many others went
on to upgarding my drivers, reinstalling DirectX, adding/removing one
after each other, copying glide into the GPL directory etc... To make it
short I was desperate to one day be able to at least run four or five
laps in a row.
The solution came up 2 days ago through a call at Diamond when I was
getting rather irrate of not being able to play and explained the tech
that in the past 2 months I hod done everything , including (YES)
reformatting and reinstalling everything. My problem was, simply, HEAT !
Three days ago, I took the casing off from the PC and since then, I have
been able to play for hours without any hang. Obviously this is a
temporary solution and if you have the same problem you could do what I
did yesterday, order fans at www.3dfxcool.com .
Hope it helps some, but let me tell you also that only reading messages
in these newsgroups has helped me try any solution (and gain some
knowledge).
