Yep... for TOCA cars, about 300-350. For Aussie V-8 supercars, I don't know maybe 500. But CART cars squash them all (save killer drag cars), even F1... about 900+. -_Dave > Anyone Know ? -- Dave Schwabe The Aussie Toad -- Grand Prix Legends & Brabham site http://users.wi.net/~schwabe

On Wed, 24 Mar 1999 19:47:56 -0000, "Douglas Ellison" >Touring Cars (BTCC) 290 - 320 BHP. correct 880-950 correct. dunno 700-750 But occasionally wrong. :o) On a practical note: BHP/ton CART (taking 950 bhp and 810kg weight) = 1191bhp/ton F1 (taking 820bhp and 600kg weight) = 1388bhp/ton NASCAR (taking 750bhp and 3400lb weight) = 494bhp/ton Anyone know the weight of Touring and WRC cars? BTW, CART min weight is specified for dry (no driver) at 750kg, so I've added 60kg for an average driver. F1 min weight includes driver, hence the weighing at the end of a race. -joe-

One thing to remember about CART vs F1 motors, though - CART gets turbos, albeit 'small' ones at 45 pounds (or maybe it's 40 now, or something) , F1 is fully naturally aspirated, mostly V10s and a few Ford V8s, no more V12s...CART is like 1.5 or something liter V8s...IRL is 3 or 4 liter naturally aspirated Aurora V8s (OK, one or two Infinitis...) -- Kirk Lane ICQ: 28171652 >Touring Cars (BTCC) 290 - 320 BHP. >CART 900 - 1000 BHP >F1 750 - 820 >WRC 320 >NASCAR 600 >Clear?? >Doug >>Anyone Know ?

The Champ actaully only has 40 inches of water for boost not 40 PSIG. 40 PISG would be over three atmospheres and I don't think the motor would last a qualifing session much less a 200 mile race. 40 inches of water is around 5 PSIG of boost. PSIG is pounds per square inch gauge. Champ car engines are also 2.65 liters of displacement not 1.5 liters of displacement. Hope this dispells any myths here. Dave
