Does anyone have any details on this year's Festival of Speed...dates etc... Sorry if this posting is a little off topic but it is one where other ppl would be interested in seeing old cars driven in 'anger' and rubbing shoulders with those Legends we keep on about :). Thanks. Matthew. -- Their spirit today is dead, men say - Dead as their stalwart frames - Their *** now runs in idler sons, Loving less manly games. Can this be truth? Arise, our Youth, Rise in your strength, and show By word and by deed Ye are worthy seed Of your Sires who drew the bow. GPL - Live the Legend! [link lost in import]

Hi JM. I have been to every festival since they began. I think that is six in total now. I can vouch for the event as completely essential. It is just a pity that the last couple have been total mudbaths. Having said that, the sight of John Surtees gunning it on two wheels at a time when the track was at its wettest, and getting fastest time of the day will live in memory for a long time. The paddock is open to the public at all times (complete access) and there are always wonderful sights. Wait till you stand next to a gp car as it is fired into life. Words cannot describe it weather it is a Mercedes 196, Vanwall, Maclaren M23 or a present day Williams. Forget the GP (you wont get within a mile of a breathing car) we have Murray and Martin at home for that. For more info go to [link lost in import] regards Mark >Does anyone have any details on this year's Festival of Speed...dates etc...

I wrote my name in dirt of the winning car at Goodwood last year. It was on display, but they hadn't had time to clean it...Awesome machine. Mark >> According to their excellent website (www.goodwood.co.uk) it will be held on
