Anyone have one of these?
I've read it's an exceptional Sound Card except for 1 thing. I've read it's
processor-bound, and causes frame rate drops in games.
Any experience out there?
I'm considering a new Sound Card (Turtle Beach seems to have lost interest -
a bummer of incredible magnitude), and given my past experiences with them I
have a hard time considering a Creative Card.
Thanks :) -Larry
Yes be nice to get some reviews of some new decent non CL cards. The yare
becoming less and less of an option to many. A few days reading in their
support groups is enough to drive you away.

Have you been there today? "Harvey and the Fanboys" just told somebody that
he can't run his computer at 100% CPU utilization without a very high risk
of a lockup. Huh??? The depth of their ignorance would be shocking under
the best of circumstances, but the fact that they are supposedly the CL
support group is just plain disgusting. Honestly, if I do end up with any
non CL card it will probably have more to do with them then for any
technical reasons.

Yup, the last few days the nonsense is really getting out of hand there. A
few self proclaimed "experts" trying to shutup anyone that even raises the
slightest concern with a CL product. Really sad and it seems the higher ups
at CL don't even care what Harvey or the others say or do.
I'd be really interested to find a better soundcard. As is in NR2003 I get
the typical pops, cracks, and static that CL is well known for with my
Audigy 1 card. Can't say it is any better than the onboard sound I had,
just adds more headaches.

TheThe Audigy 2 seems fine, as to pops, clicks, etc. Also have a Revo 7.1.
It's great if you have a lotta headroom (running NASCAR 2003 w. a 2.8-GHz P4
and an ATI 9800, say, should leave you with a lotta spare horsepower), but
it does eat into the frame rate. It also lacks optical/digital output,
altho the sound is very clean (excellent signal-to-noise ratio and dynamic
range).
