HELP ! GPL/Monster 3D

1 post by 1 person · 16 Mar 1999 - 16 Mar 1999

I have a Monster 3d (not a 3d II) running with DirectX 6.1. In most instances, the game freezes sometimes in the menus, sometimes when playing. When I say it freezes, only the video freezes, the sounds still work when I accelerate. Even though I downloaded the latest drivers for Monster 3D, Dxdiag reports dd3fx.drv as not being "certified". Does this matter ? Note that if I try to start the game in autorun through the CD in most cases it does not start. I have to Ctrl/Alt/Del GPL and then start it from the Start/Programs/Sierra, then it starts (including the 3dfx splash screen) but freezes sometime later. Could there be a conflict with the CD driver ? Is there a way to play the game without the CD (I know you can start it, but then you have have to get back out) ? I have a Pentium II MMX 450 with 64K of mem. Is there anyone having problems with a Monster 3D and GPL ? Any hint or help would be welcome !
