>Attention: RAS Readers >Please! No one bother biting this bait! We'll save a lot of time and >bandwidth! Im just wondering why did the month of February had a big increase in r.a.s. trollers. I tried to psychoanalyze the situation but Im seriously unable to find an answer to this. It's probably another example of the chaos theory or just another mystery of the life ;) -= Fran?ois Mnard <ymenard/Nas-Frank> -= NROS Nascar sanctioned Guide http://www.nros.com/ -= SimRacing Online http://www.simracing.com/ -= Official mentally retarded guy of r.a.s. -= May the Downforce be with you... Exactly, because we all know that's why they make arcade racing games for those who don't care to do what a real driver does in a real simulation, which is what this newsgroup is all about, SIMS NOT ARCADE GAMES, and of course, EA makes great arcade racers... but that's not a SIM now is it? So let's ignore this rediuclous post which makes no sense since we all know these facts and that EA sucks at making sims! Anybody who states their opinion and that opinion is that gpl is >the be all and end all is a troll eh? But this is rec.autos.simulators, remember ! :-) You don't see us go lurk and troll in comp.sys.ibm.pc.games.* saying how bad arcade games are. The same is done in the Air simulators newsgroup. They will flame the producers of arcade-style air simulators, but you don't see them go in other newsgroup who talk about those arcade-style sims and bash them. But the main problem is that the EA marketing (or many arcade-style producers) will hype their titles using stuff that are almost lies and pushing the limits of "sportsmanship" in the terms they use such as : "The first playable racing title", "Full simulation depth" and even "New Physically modeled engine using Staccato DSP technology". Wow what a *** hype Im sorry but cmon... No not at all ;-) -= Fran?ois Mnard <ymenard/Nas-Frank> -= NROS Nascar sanctioned Guide http://www.nros.com/ -= SimRacing Online http://www.simracing.com/ -= Official mentally retarded guy of r.a.s. -= May the Downforce be with you... This is the best news ive heard in a long time. EA sports make some of the best sports games around. With each sport they get the TV feeling just right so i cant wait to see tv style replays with fluid Murray speech going "FAAAANNNTAAASSTIIICC" . The norm for EA sims is the yearly update, this suits me to a tee :) All the new teams, drivers, tracks and improved graphics gameplay with each version is what modern F1 racers really need badly. As for those ***y nerds that turned the last thread into an epic about how unrealistic EA sports games are and that the game is going to be an arcady pice of crap, well I think your using the wrong joystic... Stop playing with your***s idiots just because you can drive around the ring in gpl doesn't mean you would have the balls, strength or ability to get around it on a push bike. To us normal gamers stilling at a normal pc looking at a 15" monitor it is impossible to replicate what the drivers go through. I think some of you don't know what simulate means, it certanly doesn't mean replicate. Just because a sim is hard to drive it doesn't mean the genius behind it has given you the experience of what it might be like. GPL is an amazing pice of software (not a sim or game) the physics of the cars are probably spot on, but what does that mean to mr computer player at his desk without years of racing experience or the g-forces and hundreds of other senses like steering feedback, vibration etc to help them drive it? Not much unless youve got lots of time on your hands. EA sport make great games, I hope I come away from there F1 game feeling some of the e***ment, sights and sounds that a driver experiences without having to develop the impressive but ultimately usless ability to drive an car fast by remote control....

Attention: RAS Readers Please! No one bother biting this bait! We'll save a lot of time and bandwidth! Thanks.
Berno 24 Feb 1999#452284
wrong im here all the time and its not bait its my opinion. Did you read my post? I couldnt have complemented GPL's physics more if I got on my hands and knees. I was just saying that its not much of a game and its not fair on the player to expect them to get to grips with it using a joystic and pc. Just because all car games are more accesable than gpl doesn't make them inferior. Your welcome. >Attention: RAS Readers >Please! No one bother biting this bait! Maby its got something to do with the way you guys act about lesser (playable) game physics than gpl. FYI ive played all papy sims from indy500 to gpl and am pretty good at them (not as good as those guys at the ring of course). Anybody who states their opinion and that opinion is that gpl is the be all and end all is a troll eh? Your not the said nerd playing with his*** are you :) Didn't mean to catch you out like that.

Just because the game is from EA hopefully it doesnt mean that it won't simulate the fast action in a race. If it gets your heart beating it must be getting something right yes? No that wouldnt be fair, what did i say was bad about sims? Im not a troll whateva the hell it is :) I play flight sims aswell. But I also get angry at the people who drill games like Fighters Anthology for not being totally ***with flight models. I play falcon 4 for the realism challenge and Fighters Anthology for the thrill, dont you think your heart would be beating if somebody was trying to shoot you down??? FA does that for me cause its fast and uncomplicated while falcon 4 doesnt because its slow and technical. One simulates the fear the other simulates the technicalitys. Tell me why both arent sims? Maby your right, I dont know what that stuff is about. I haven checked out nascar revolution. EA is a big american company you have to expect hype :) Good, I suppose you've got a wheel then :) Lucky fella.

Now this guy knows what he's talking about, and it didn't come from the Rodster. Although I second his statement !!!!!! Rodster is back ! The norm for EA sims is the yearly update, this >suits me to a tee :) All the new teams, drivers, tracks and improved >graphics gameplay with each version is what modern F1 racers really need >badly. Absolutely. EA's got the resources. They do excellent work on quite a few sports titles. What in THE hell are you talkin' about boy? Who the hell said they could drive The Ring in an F1 (or retro F1) car? Where the *** is all this attitude comin' from? Relax. Clearly nobody thinks that playing a driving simulator on their computer is anything like the real thing. Some may sound like it, but I've got enough faith (and not one to try and read between the lines) in the relative sanity around here to think they know quite well that GPL is one thing, reality is quite another. I think YOU don't know what simulate means. At least not in the context of a driving simulator. All we're looking for is a sim that, AS ACCURATELY AS POSSIBLE (within the confines of a piece of computer software) models as many aspects of auto racing possible. Physics, Mechanics, Realism, Etc. If "Mr Computer Player" can't deal with that; fine. If it's too much for him/her; fine. Mebbe they'd be better off playing something easier...something the industry has dubbed: "arcadish". There's certainly no reason to feel inadequate. They just don't care for the complexity. Fine. There's nothin' wrong with that. Will EA do this (make a simulator)? Nope. They'll make a real good arcade game. There's nothing wrong with that. More power to ya. Hope you have fun. Mebbe some of us want a little more? S.C. So in GPL you cant race? just drive around with good physics, last time I checked, my 30 lap race at silverstone was a blast and fun to drive. Oh well, your intitled to not trying to play a game. Jesse

I know nothing of EA Sports, whether they're games, sims or whatever....but I think everyone has a right to an opinion...there're hundreds of worthless threads in here....if you don't like the content....just skip 'em....but telling others to ignore them?? Bad cricket that.

Yum, yum! Slobber, drool! You're a creative optimist, Richard. Still trying to get those wings to stick on that pig? :-).... Cheers, Paul
