Hi all, Ok, let me start by saying I've read Alison's FAQs. But... Does anyone play online (VROC) SUCESSFULLY with a serial (external) modem? I have a crappy internal Win modem now... I know what bad things it does, so I won't use it for GPL, and that's why I haven't been on VROC yet. But I do also have a 33.6 external... will this be adequate for GPL if "buffed out" using all of Alison's modem settings?? (BTW, the rest of my system is a 233 MMX oc'ed to 261, 8MB Thriller, 96 MB RAM... I don't have any problems with turning down detail to get playability). No problemo. I've used a Zoom V.90 external for all of my VROC racing (since it went up). And I have it set for V.34 (<=33.6K) for maximum connection quality. It may not be very good for hosting, but a serial modem is fine for joining races.
