HELP!!!
I just installed the Thriller 3D 8mb PCI card and ARGH!!!
I'm running a P-133 (overclocked to 180), 80mb ram, 3 hardrives, win 98
after installing the card, my cpu freezes, dos mode will not work, my videos
have no picture, only sounds, and other stuff. I bought the card so I could use
ICR2 in rendition mode. And I can't do this yet. Please hlpe me. I called the
Hercules tech support at 11:00 a.m. and it is now 5:00 p.m. and they haven't
called back. Please help me. thanx.
You need an icr2 patch to run it with rendition. Its available at several sites
this is the best http://www.simracing.com/simproject/ it's the v2200 patch

not only update your video bios, but also update your Motherboard bios.
(helps with y2k also{usually}) You'll need several files to make icr2 work
with the Herc. Allison Hine's gpl website is one(search for eagle woman)
and Bjorn's 3d is another. www.bjorn3d.com

I had a similar problem when I first got the card.
The computer wouldn't even boot up after the vid card was slotted in.
I have a pII266 o/cd to 300 and I had to unclock the proccessor to its normal
speed, install the card and all its drivers, and then I was able to o/c it again.

Make sure you have the last bios and drivers from the Herc website. For ICR2
though, I believe you will need to get a patch from one of the sim sites for
it to work, maybe Bjorn's rendition site.

The installation CD that came with board has all of the latest drivers and
bios. That's the first thing I checked for. I unclocked my PC back to a p-133

Before installing the card did you set your video back to standard VGA and
remove the drivers for the old video card? If you didn't, then this is
probably your problem.
Since you are running a 133, make sure you have the latest BIOS for your
mother board.

My system froze too anytime I tried to run any DOS app. after instaling Win 98.
I have the same card as you, and downloaded the latest drivers off the website,
and everything is fine now...............I thought mine had the latest drivers
too. It did have the latest BIOS, but not the latest drivers evidently.

Hi,
The suggestion about setting it back to a 66mhz bus first is a good one.
Then OC it again. BUT make sure you have good cooling! I didn't at first
and had trouble at 75mhz. Then i put another fan on the bottom of the
case drawing air IN and reversed the power supply fan to go OUT. That
helped a lot, expecially because the IN fan on the bottom was blowing at
the Thriller. Also, make sure in GPL you have the W95 screen saver
turned OFF when you are playing the game. That can cause lockups.

my motherboard anywhere. I called Hercules 4 times today and they never called
me back.
The drivers on the CD-Rom ae dated November 1998, while the drivers on the
website are dated earlier than that. I have installed driver version # .85.xxxx
I re-installed everything today all over again but nothing worked.
My cpu freezes, the mpg/avi/mov videos have no picture, dos won't work, and the
screen doesn't fill my monitor.

I had a similar problem and, after trying all the updated drivers and
bios upgrades, I finally discovered a small suggestion in the Thriller
readme file that the card may refuse to run in the first PCI slot.
They suggested installing the card in a different slot and THAT cured
the problem for me.

Uff, my CD has August 1998 on it, I checked the website and found only
older
drivers, too! Where do they hide the latest drivers, in some closet at
Hercules?
BTW, GPL is really optimized for Rendition, as I just put in the
Thriller, added
some features (full mirrors) and still get 36fps with no car ahead,
which my
V2 SLI never reached...

Problem solved. The driver was screwed up. Now on to find rendition enhanced
tracks for ICR2 that are very easy to install.
Not that I am doubting you, but I have a hard time beleiving that a
supplied CD-ROM has newer drivers than what you could d/l from
Hercules. I would give the latest drivers from Herc a try and then see
if it works, what are you out if it still does not work?
