I just ran a practice at Mexico with headphone (at high volume) on
instead of speakers (turned down some to avoid disturbing the family).
I almost immediately ran a best time (1:59) in an Eagle.
Why - because I could now hear the tyres squeal as they started to
slide and could use the audio feedback to get much more control into
my driving.

between computer and TV, and when the kids are fighting you can't hear em
till someone gets wounded and comes to you.

I about to install Surround sound in my computer room. Taking em to the red
