After testing most all of the latest racing sims, I still conclude that
Grand Prix 2 is far
and away the finest race sim ever built! Monaco GP is pretty good (you
need a good setup at each track and grip is not as good as GP2) , F1
Championship by
Pysnosis is marginal (crappy detail), Nascar 2 is to time consuming,
Indycar2 rates as second best in overall quality. I'm using a PII w/ 128
meg ram, Matrox Millinium AGP w/Canopus 12 meg 3d and Microsoft force
feedback wheel (it's pretty good)
Only problem is lack of being able to setup the buttons and shift
paddles.

You create profiles assigning different keyboard functions to each button.
This is necessary, for example, in getting the "paddles" to act as shifters
in N1999.

You can setup the MS FF paddles in GP2, using the Sidewinder profile
activator. Create a new profile with buttons 7 and 8 being the Space and
Alt keys, and activate the profile when starting GP2. remember to deactivate
the profile before starting other games. In GP2's control configuration,
set Space and Alt as your gear change buttons. Only problem is you will no
longer be able to use Space to pause, and therefore won't be able to see
instant replays. You can use the Pause/Break key to pause the game. If
anyone has a better way of doing this (so I can have my instant replays
back) I would appreciate a response.

Wow! Terribly misleading for those just getting into this thing! If
simulation is what you seek, Grand Prix Legends (aka GPL) is where it's at,
by a laughable margin! Just don't expect to be fast early!
