GPL and TM Nascar Pro

6 posts by 2 people · 28 Dec 1998 - 28 Dec 1998

I just installed a SB-Live and now, the brake pedal on the Nascar Pro (configured w/ separate pedals) is not recognized at all using the Direct Input selection. In fact, I even RE-INSTALLED a TM ACM game card, and it's not recognized when connected to THAT card either. Steering, gas, and shifter all seem to work fine. Anyone got any clues? -- ========================================================= John Simmons - Redneck Techno-Biker (Zerex12) http://www.members.home.net/jms1/index.html John Simmons - Barbarian Diecast Collector http://members.home.net/jsimm/diecast_index.html IGPS Director [link lost in import] If you want to send me email, go to either of the URL's shown above & click "Send Me Mail" in the contents frame. =========================================================

If the brake is missing when you are in DOS (try using TMScope), then it just looks like weird timing. In other words, must have a loose wire in the pedal base. Is the brake available in when set to combined? If it's seen by TMScope (which bypasses Windows), then you have a problem with the NASCAR Pro entry in the Registry. Try installing ProPanel and see if this brings it back. ftp://208.129.210.78/pub/library/calibration/propanelv11.exe -- **************************** Michael E. I tried the TMM Scope thing, and it can see the brake pedal just fine (in both combined AND separate modes). I'm using a slightly different version (older) than the one you provided a link for. I'll uninstall the old one and install the new one and see if that works. Thanks for the tips. -- ========================================================= John Simmons - Redneck Techno-Biker (Zerex12) http://www.members.home.net/jms1/index.html John Simmons - Barbarian Diecast Collector http://members.home.net/jsimm/diecast_index.html IGPS Director http://members.home.net/jms1/igps.html If you want to send me email, go to either of the URL's shown above & click "Send Me Mail" in the contents frame. =========================================================
Update: Nascar2 - brake pedal works (but no sound) Nascar 1999 - sound works, no brake pedal GPL - sound works, but no brake pedal I'm running Win95 OSR2 with DirectX 5.2 - the only thing that's changed is the sound card (went from Guillemot MaxiSound to Creative SB-Live). -- ========================================================= John Simmons - Redneck Techno-Biker (Zerex12) http://www.members.home.net/jms1/index.html John Simmons - Barbarian Diecast Collector http://members.home.net/jsimm/diecast_index.html IGPS Director http://members.home.net/jms1/igps.html If you want to send me email, go to either of the URL's shown above & click "Send Me Mail" in the contents frame. =========================================================

Go into the Device Manager and try setting the soundcard's gameport to I/O 201-201 (I think the default maybe 201-209). Seems strange that there is a tie between brake working but no sound or visa versa. Have you tried installing any driver updates for the sound card? -- **************************** Michael E. Already did that. It doesn't really surprise me that dos games can't do sound - i don't have any sound environment settings in my autoexec file. I reinstalled DX5 - no luck. I installed DX6 - no luck. I'm running out of ideas, and it's starting to***me off....
