Hi all, Does anyone know what a 10049 error is and more importantly, what causes one? Whenever I get one, my connection software says "Windows reports line has dropped", and I then get disconnected. I've had this happen several times but last night at the IGPS race it happened at just about the worst possible time.... The penultimate lap. While I was leading by over 30 seconds. From pole. With fastest lap (?). In a Ferrari. Anybody know if there's something I can do about this? Thanks, -- Graeme Nash http://www.karisma1.demon.co.uk ICQ# 11257824
Hi Graeme, No I've not seen this one. I have had a dial up connection drop & ask to be reconnected in windows. Whilst in GPL I got a series of network errors. Quitting GPL I get to see the re-connect error message. I guess its just the complete connection to the ISP failing as opposed to 'blip' where you get disconnected from the GPL server but still connected to the internet. My heart went out to you when I saw "Graeme Nash has disconnected" so near the end. I'd just recovered to third at the time (from last after the first corner & the resulting pit penalty!) so I knew it must be you in first as my pit board showed John in second. Shame about the first corner cos I think we could have had a good race - especially if I'd stayed in front on the exit of turn 1! My best lap was 0.06 slower than yours. It is probably me, but there seems to be less grip with cold tyres in the race than starting from the pits in practice with the same set up. I consciously ran through turn one on cold tyres fully fuelled with race set up prior to the start to get the feel for it. Perhaps it was because of the entry angle being further over on the right hand side having got passed you down the straight. Watching the replay you disappear for major chunks of it. It also shows you on fire with just one wheel after turn one, but re-appear all ok without stopping. Forgetting the disconnect (if you can!) I probably had the more fun race catching & overtaking about five cars for position (plus the backmarkers) having lost so much time at the start. Anyway good luck in the future races - hope to see you during the race! Cheers Tony

Sorry I don't know Graeme. I wondered why you discoed. Thought that <gasp> you crashed :) "ZZ" -- Busch Carpentry "Plans?" ---------------- Busch Motorsports "Remember racecar is racecar spelled backward"
And an amazing site that was - grin. I sent out an email to the league members about it this morning. Were you still connected to the internet after you were disconnected from the race? All I can suggest is that you make sure no other apps are running (including ICQ), and make sure you have your screen saver turned off, and other similar precautions. You might also want to make sure that your using the latest version of winsock. Beyond checking software, your only other option is to try a different (USB?) modem. I don't know if europeans have a call-waiting feature, but if so, you might want to double check that it's turned off. Lastly, if someone is trying to call you, they can ask the operator to break in on your current call. If that happens, you're hosed. -- ========================================================= John Simmons - Redneck Techno-Biker (Zerex12) http://www.members.home.net/jms1/index.html John Simmons - Barbarian Diecast Collector http://members.home.net/jsimm/diecast_index.html IGPS Director http://members.home.net/jms1/igps.html If you want to send me email, go to either of the URL's shown above & click "Send Me Mail" in the contents frame. =========================================================

Well, I was driving all normally and then in the corner I got "10049 error detected on network device" in the corner of the screen. I got booted from the race about 10 secs later and then disconnected from the net about 10s after that.... I had -everything- disabled. I've got a feeling it might just have been "noise" on my modem line but I can't be sure.... I'll try the other phone line for the Nurburgring race! <G> I don't think that's the problem, since the race I got discoe'd at about 3:10am. Can't imagine that anyone would phone at that time :-) Cheers! -- Graeme Nash http://www.karisma1.demon.co.uk ICQ# 11257824
> "10049 error detected on network device" Thats the error I saw when the internet connection had failed & I had a reconnect dialogue box which became visible after exiting GPL. Didn't remember seeing 10049, just the text. Still believe its a dropped internet connection not GPL specific. The league jury is out as to whether you should be given any additional points for such an unjust act. I said no - take away the pole & fast laps as well for not being there at the press conference Just kidding! Cheers Tony
