Hi all, I just raced in (and won, hee hee!) an online race at Watkins Glen. Before the race I topped up with fuel and for the 17 lap race the closest measurement I could get was 18 laps worth of fuel. So I thought, I've got one lap left over should I need it. And man, did I! Coming through the esses at the start of the last lap, my Ferrari started stuttering and eventually I beat Mr Alex Nase to the line by just 1.7s from around 10s! I'm just wondering if anyone else had experienced any of these irregularities? I was as careful as I could be, lifting whilst shifting (shlifting?) and not changing down too early, so I don't think running the revs too high was the cause. Any thoughts? (Oh, and I should just mention that I'm about to upload my race "report" onto the GPL Experiences page of my website) Cheers! -- Graeme Nash http://www.karisma1.demon.co.uk ICQ# 11257824

Yeah..I get this with the Brabham now and then. I've decided that I must use extra fuel being untidy (and spinning). It would be nice if GPL modelled your team manager and noted fuel usage, adjusting calculations automatically based on the driver's history....but that's a pretty minor point. For now I just add a gallon of fuel to the tank if the estimate is exactly the number of laps in the race. I would like to know whether the no. of laps estimated is a rounded number or a number of complete laps (ie is 6.6 laps reported as 6 laps or 7 laps). Ben

With all due respect guys, can you really tell the difference in performance with a one gallon difference in fuel load? Take an extra gallon, for goodness sake. That's just six pounds, but will give you two or three laps worth of very inexpensive insurance. That, of course, is written from the full wisdom of a guy who ran out of fuel once. ONCE. ;-) Happy racing, Pinebox

I do that now too. I lost a race to the AI at Mosport this way. I finished 6th but would have won. I ran out of fuel right at the end of the Andretti straight. A quater of a gallon away from a win. Needless to say i learned real quick!! P.S.-This is the only time i have even been remotly close to winning at a track other than Monza. And even there ive only won once due to a pile up that took out both Clark AND Hill. No Lotii...No problem!!!
