Discovered a solution to my problem of GPL re-sizing my application windows.
After running GPL, applications would only size to the left half of my
screen. It didn't effect the actual desk top.
It appears that the picture I'd put up as wallpaper was causing it. When I
reverted to one of the normal desktops, the problem went away.
