Best graphic card GPL

Hi, I've had a voodoo 1, a voodoo 2 and just bouhgt a voodoo Banshee (maxi gamer phoenix, 16 mb, pci). This card is great. In GPL it's much better than a voodoo 1 or 2, and you can get even the high resolutions without a problem. The best thing about the card is that it works great with other games, TAW, F-15, MGPRS2, F1RS, NFS3. I think that if you want a card that's cheap and works great with not only GPL but also with other games, go for the banshee, you won't be dissapointed!

How much does it sell for? Does it work with games like Quake2 & Unreal? My Monster Voodoo1 is barely cuttin' it... Thanks, Matt

Matt, in your situation you might want to lean towards the Voodoo2...depends on what your current 2D/D3D card is. There's some kind of patch deal involved with Quake2 on the Banshee, and the V2 should be slightly faster. If I follow the posts right, you might be limited to 800x600 in GPL with a single V2, tho. However, it takes a 450-class Pentium II to run GPL at 1024x768 and still get max frame rate (still won't cut it on the grid). Either the Banshee or the V2 will play the 3dfx stuff. The Banshee is a good single-card solution for those on a budget as it also does respectable Direct3D and very good 2D, but a Riva TNT card with an SLI V2 setup still outruns just about everything. in just about everything. Several games seem to require a patch to live comfortably with the Banshee. The Creative Labs Banshee is 90 bucks after rebate if I recall correctly. Oh... I upgraded from a V1 to a Banshee and saw about a 50% increase in GPL FPS on a Celeron 300A running at 450. Rgds, Mark R.
