IGPS Roster is FULL

6 posts by 3 people · 07 Dec 1998 - 07 Dec 1998

We have a full roster and practice races will commence immediately. I was kind of surprised that the Eagle chassis was neglected until the end. Lotus was used up first, then Ferarri, Coventry and eagle (4 cars each). There is a single Brabham in the field. I'd like to wish everyone who signed up luck in the upcoming season. -- ========================================================= John Simmons - Redneck Techno-Biker (Zerex12) http://www.members.home.net/jms1/index.html John Simmons - Barbarian Diecast Collector http://members.home.net/jsimm/diecast_index.html IGPS Director [link lost in import] If you want to send me email, go to either of the URL's shown above & click "Send Me Mail" in the contents frame. =========================================================

When I read your page (shortly after it was announced here) only two Eagles were alloted and they were both assigned already (out of six cars assigned at that time). I would have given the series more serious consideration if the only chassis I care to drive (and not necessarily for performance reasons) was available. Maybe that's why not many people selected it... ;) "But in a way, fear is a big part of racing, because if there was nothing to be frightened of, and no limit, any fool could get into a motor car and racing would not exist as a sport." -- Jim Clark

I think you mis-read the page - four of each chassis were allowed, and of that two Eagles were used fairly immediately. And that's where it stayed until two guys asked if they could be stand-bys (after the first 15 people had signed up). I wanted to avoid the "sea-of-green" that we typically see in open VROC events - for example, I hosted a race a few days ago, and of 16 cars in that race, there were 12 lotus, one eagle, a ferrari, and two coventries. Granted, the Lotus is probably the fastest car overall, but I wonder just how fast some of these guys would be if they were relegated to a vehicle of lesser stature, such as a Coventry, a Brabham, or even a Murasama. -- ========================================================= John Simmons - Redneck Techno-Biker (Zerex12) http://www.members.home.net/jms1/index.html John Simmons - Barbarian Diecast Collector http://members.home.net/jsimm/diecast_index.html IGPS Director http://members.home.net/jms1/igps.html If you want to send me email, go to either of the URL's shown above & click "Send Me Mail" in the contents frame. =========================================================
> Huh? When I read your page (shortly after it was announced here) >only two Eagles were alloted and they were both assigned already (outof six cars assigned at that time). I misread that too - it meant that 2 were allocated & 2 were available. I thought the Lotus, Ferrari & Eagle had gone when they were in fact available and asked for a Brabham. I looked at the web site again & it seemed clear as a bell - don't know why I misinterpreted it - too many late nights with GPL I guess. Mailed John again (just in time) to get my Lotus (Thanks John) Tony

I guess I should have asked why (it appeared that) you only had alloted two Eagles, but every message you posted had that "don't ask me no questions, just go away" disclaimer, so that's what I did. ;) Well, have a good series. It's a tough job (I used to run the ICR1 offline series on the old Papyrus BBS), but a lot of people benefit. Rules are one thing, but an apparent disparity for chassis allowances is a justifiable reason to question my cerebral excreta. I was originally going to only allow three of each chassis type, so I did lighten up a little bit :-) Yeah, this is the first one that I've done (on my own) - I've been a co- admin on an NROS (TEN) online league, but that's about the extent of my league management experience. -- ========================================================= John Simmons - Redneck Techno-Biker (Zerex12) http://www.members.home.net/jms1/index.html John Simmons - Barbarian Diecast Collector http://members.home.net/jsimm/diecast_index.html IGPS Director http://members.home.net/jms1/igps.html If you want to send me email, go to either of the URL's shown above & click "Send Me Mail" in the contents frame. =========================================================
