Just some info:
Initially I had some problems with getting the opengl drivers (www.papy.com)
to work with my Diamond Viper 330 AGP and Windows 98.
Original drivers: Diamond Viper 330 AGP release 0128 (latest drivers from
8/26)
Game did start, but crashed when driving screen should come. Don't like
racing at 15 fps... :-(
Solution: newest reference drivers from www.nvidea.com for Riva 128 called:
WIN98ALL.ZIP (PCI/AGP version).
No more crashes!
Further improvement by downloading opengl32 drivers from:
ftp://ftp.microsoft.com/Softlib/MSLFILES/opengl95.exe
Extract these files to the GPL directory. In my case the framerate went up
from <30 fps to <37 fps. Not to bad, hey?!!

37 FPS ?!?! What kind of system (besides a Riva 128) are you running ?
Celeron (classic :) ) clocked at 400 and 96 MB. NO 3dfx cards.
Core.ini settings:
TossHighestMip = 1 ;
MipFiltering = 2 ;
MirrorsEvery = 8 ;
All details in mirrors put off, pretty low settings. I am still very new to
this game (eh, two days) but I am already skipping some sleep...
