Grand Theft Auto looks ammusing, is it worth buying? I can get it for
about 35$ around here.. is it worth it?
It's different, and quite entertaining, but it is definitely not a
simulator!

If you are looking for a game that simulates driving in any serious sense of
the word, don't buy it. If being completely sociopathic is cathartic or
amusing to you (as it is to me), then by all means grab a copy.
You go on 'missions' as a criminal where the main feature is the ability to
stop anyone in the street and steal their car and go on a joy ride. The
maps are HUGE, so you need cars to get around anyway. There are Vipers and
Lambos, Jeeps, School busses, VW bugs, tank trucks, stretch limos,
motorcycles, taxis, etc. all there to snitch. You drive them from a
dizzying overhead view (ala micromachines) as you splatter pedestrians all
over the sidewalk, careen into other cars, suffering damage which eventually
causes your fan to clank against your radiator, etc. YOu complete tasks
like getting back your 'stuff' from drug dealers, delivering stolen cars,
blowing up the police station with a truck loaded with explosives, etc. to
gain favor with your gang leader boss. HE communicates to you through
phones you find in the game and through a beeper (of course) in the upper
right hand part of the screen. YOu get points for killing people, whether
you shoot them, run them over, what have you. There is plenty of screaming
and profanity to make you snicker and fun lesser tasks like the 'kill
frenzy', bank robberies and the bonus points for running down an entire
squadron of Hare Krishnas in one fell swoop.
Yeah it's warped, yeah, you should keep your impressionable kids away from
it, but dang it all..it's funny and it's fun. So there.

Or you might want to wait for the game "The Driver". First person
perspective, supposedly good physics. Huge 3D environments with freedom to
roam. The premise is you wait for the call from your partners in crime,
then you have to scream through town to pick them up in time (at the bank
heist for example) then you have to evade the cops. It's seems like NFS3
with a movie script, and lots of 70s muscle cars. I have lost the web
reference, but it was written up on the Gamespot UK site.
