Leading video game retailer confirms long wait for the highly anticipated
PS3 racing simulation.
In an email sent to customers, GAME, a leading retailer of video games, has
confirmed Gran Turismo 5 won't be released this year, with European
PlayStation 3 gamers having to wait until 2009.
"The legendary "Real Driving Simulator" Gran Turismo 5 is heading to
PlayStation 3 in 2009, utilising the uber-console's raw horsepower to
generate an unrivalled level of realism," states the GAME email.
The email does, however, promote the March 28 release of Gran Turismo 5
Prologue, which will be priced only 19.99. This early teaser will feature
five tracks and 40 cars, plus 16-player online racing.

Gran Turismo 5 currently has a tentative 2008 release date in both Japan and
North America.
Other sources are reporting the game will be delayed from the Xmas 2008 date
in N America and Japan. Expect it mid summer 2009 at the earliest in N
America. Still no Damage modeling confirmed.

that's because unlike some silly fangirls like you, I like games..all games
on all platforms..and so do the silent majority of usenet readers imo. I was
looking forward to this one but oh well 360 has awesome racing games until
then. PC simulators can't be beat still.

I used to look forward to the Gran Turismo games until the last one,
which seemed to me more flash than dash and I enjoyed Forza more. I
won't be playing the next one because I can't afford both consoles and
have plumped for the 360 for cost reasons. I'm not sure about forza 2
either, I have it but my first reactions weren't that fantastic.
Having fun on TDU.

What PC simulators are you talking about?
Seems like they are crap compared to xbox 360's.

i do agree with you, a proper driving sim is something more akin to
Sega's Ferrari F355 Challenge (if you're looking ta console games

however, Doug has a point, Sony themselves do call the GT series
driving simulators, they just fail to mention theyre not very
realistic ones :)

It's an exceptionally good driving simulator, just a shit racing
simulator due to the absence of AI and damage. But it's a much better
driving simulator than F355. Forcing in-car view and making it hard
doesn't make it realistic. The car physics and handling model in GT is
untouched on consoles (Forza 2 doesn't even come close).
