Steering Wheel for CMR, GP2?

I want to play Colin McRae Rally, GP2 (and perhaps GPL in the near future) with a really decent steering wheel-pedal setup, and I'm willing to spend around 130, but I'm not sure quite what to get. I want something that feels good to use, and which allows 2 feet on the pedals (left foot breaking, right foot gas). I've currently got my eye on the Digital Edge F1 Sim (not the Compact version). It doesn't feature FF, but I'm not too bothered, as the build quality looks superb, and it supposedly has stiffened pedals and steering to feel like the real thing. I'm also considering the MS FF Steering Wheel, which also comes with 2 games. I'm not sure how it'd feel though. I'd appreciate any advice concerning what to go for. If you can find the time to write directly to my email account, that'd be even better as I don't regularly check the newsgroup. Thanks in advance.

I tried the MS FF wheel last week with CMR. The wheel feels v. nice but the FF just feels like someone has loosened all the bolts on your steering rack ! Not exactly realistic and at 160UKP a bit steep too -- Tom Last >I want to play Colin McRae Rally, GP2 (and perhaps GPL in the near >future) with a really decent steering wheel-pedal setup, and I'm willing >to spend around 130, but I'm not sure quite what to get. I've got an F1 SIM you can have. It's lying in bits on the floor beside my machine. I guess I got about six months proper use out of it, no more, and thereafter I got mucked about by Digital Edge. Waste of 160 (as it was then). Now I'm using a Saitek R4 w/o force feedback and so far (after about six weeks) I'm quite happy. Doesn't have the weight of the Digital Edge behind it but as I found out, appearances can be deceiving. John

Me too, I had 2 F1 Sim's and I had calibration problems with both. I did find a way to pretty much cure the problem by taking the wheel apart and using a cable tie, but I didn't think much to paying 160 for a wheel and having to fix it up myself. I've got one of theses now and I am very pleased with it, no problems with it at all and the FF is great as well. -- Sean Black
