I'm thinking of buying a video card. Can anyone tell me about the Viper 550
and NASCAR 99, and the upcoming versions of racing sims?
You can email me
While the Riva TNT is a great card, including OpenGL drivers, its
useless with Nascar99. N99 only supports Rendition and 3dfx.
However, it will perform ok with this game and scream with
D3D and OpenGL games.

Errrr....
But remember you can run NR99 in software mode, including the Windows
version of it.

one.
It is useless as a 3D card for N1999.

Can you run N99 with all the graphics on? I don't have my system together
yet. I'm going to be using a 300A with BX6 mobo, viper550, and 64 mb of 100
MHz. ram. I would like to have all graphics on with excellent frame rate.
thanks,
Joey

Do I need to invest in a 3dfx card as
well?

you could have...
A fast TNT for DirectX games that don't support 3dfx, and a 3dfx card
for those games that support 3dfx.
I have the G460/Monster II setup in mine. The G460 (intel I740 chip) is
actually kinda slow, but it gets me by until I can afford the TNT.
