VROC and Netscape

2 posts by 2 people · 25 Nov 1998 - 25 Nov 1998

Well, I've pretty much given up on VROC being released for MSIE, so I have a question about Nutscrape... I found this announcement on the VROC website "11/8/98 - To enable us to take advantage of the full Java 1.1 feature set implemented in Netscape 4.5, we plan to discontinue support for Netscape versions 4.0x shortly." Does this mean I have to download the entire Communicator package, or can I get away with just the Netscape browser (4.08). Communicator appears to be nothing more than a group of apps I don't even want combined with the browser itself. Why do I need their news reader and that AOL ***to run VROC? -- ========================================================= John Simmons - Redneck Techno-Biker (Zerex12) http://www.members.home.net/jms1/index.html John Simmons - Barbarian Diecast Collector http://members.home.net/jsimm/diecast_index.html If you want to send me email, go to either of the URL's shown above & click "Send Me Mail" in the contents frame. =========================================================
You should be able to get the Stand-Alone 4.08 browser and things should work just hunkie dorie. (And if MafiaSoft hadn't crippled Java, you wouldn't need to use "Nutscrape".) % Well, I've pretty much given up on VROC being released for MSIE, so I % have a question about Nutscrape... % I found this announcement on the VROC website % "11/8/98 - To enable us to take advantage of the full % Java 1.1 feature set implemented in Netscape 4.5, we % plan to discontinue support for Netscape versions % 4.0x shortly." % Does this mean I have to download the entire Communicator package, or can % I get away with just the Netscape browser (4.08).
