I've been salivating all week reading all of your GPL posts, and
finally yesterday I had the chance to pick it up at the local
CompUSA.
Wow. Double wow. This is so kewl it's almost beyond words.
It's better even than I thought it would be. I'm beyond
impressed with Papy on this one.
I've never had some much fun with a sim. The "feel" of the car
is beyond what I could have imagined was possible. I love the
unforgiving but realistic physics model. I love the wieght shift
physics (brutal!). It is amazing the amount of true "feel" they
have been able to build into this.
Powersliding through the beginning of Eau Rouge at Spa and then
just physically horsing the car through the top exit is
*unbelievably* exhilarating. I've never, even had so much fun
driving a sim!! I can't believe how much feedback you get!!
PHENOMINAL!!
One other thing I noticed is the feeling of speed is enhanced by
the sound .vs somthing like GP2 (which I still love). I was
trying to figure out why I had such a better feeling of speed,
and I noticed the sound in GPL you can *hear the wind* .... what
a huge difference!!
Jesus, I am a shitty pilot though! LOL. I ran about 50 laps at
Spa, best was a 3:52 in a Lotus GP (for some reason, I *do not
like* the trainer cars... :(). I suspect that's pretty bad.
Gawd damned I love that track. WHAT A SIM!!
I am going to post another post with some technical problems I am
having (bad video problems), if any of you veterans could take a
moment to answer, I'd appreciate it. I expect most of you can
sympathize with how badly I want to play this over the weekend, I
need to solve the video problems.
Papy - you ROCK MY WORLD!! Congrats for having the NUTS to put
this out! It's BRILLIANT, STUPDENDOUS, SPECTACULAR!!
