Not when you're driving from the in-cockpit view, but if you hit F10 and
drive from the "above and behind" view you'll have a digital speed
display at the lower right of the screen.
Trips
When viewing a replay the speed is displayed at the top of the screen, can
the speed be displayed while driving.

Could it have been that hard to give us the option to see....
Speed
Place
Lap time
Fast Lap
Etc...?
We had it in nascar2. The purists out there could turn that "option"
off. Why wasn't this "option" included?

it's just as easy to remember what revs you are using in each gear, and this
soon becomes as natural as watching a speedo, with the advantage that you
can hear where you're at. Your actual speed is kinda irrelevant, it's
whether you are pushing as hard as possible at each point that counts and
revs tell you this just as effectively as a speedo.

I agree with the sim' aspect for during races. But for during practice, when
you're trying to learn to drive a track or perfect a setup, it just wastes
the player's time.

You want to try reading a tach in a kart pulling 15000 rpm at the end
of the straight to get your gearing right.... don't underestimate the
importance of your ears in a racing envrionment.
