Haaa! Hold yer flames, buddies, I know these two can't be compared...well,
except for one thing, maybe: do you remeber that head-tilting feature in CPR
when your view would slightly turn towards the inside of a turn? I guess you
do, as everyone (at least) saw the demo back then. Now imagine this feature
in GPL...what do you think?

Well, it was the first thing, I turned off while trying the demo...then
after
bouncing off the wall like a tennis ball for 5 times I just deinstalled

Funy how r.a.s. works. I was able to drive inches from the wall at 225 mph
the entire length of the track whenever I wanted or needed to.

Do you judge a game just by a demo? What companies are
able to test ALL configurations? Just Papyrus I guess. I stated in another
post that I was able to solve the problems of 90% of the people who asked me
for help with what they perceived as control problems. I did that by simply
supplying them with good setups and controller settings when they were sure
it was a problem elsewhere.
I have no interest in rehashing the past too.
Papyrus good. Ubi, MS, and all others bad.

I never got used to it. Although most other sims
unrealistically lock your head facing straight ahead, at least you
knew what you were going to be looking at at any given moment. Maybe
if I'd spent more time on the demo it would have become more
predictable. But I didn't.
So, no, I don't miss it.

Hmm, you're wrong! My MS FF wheel came with an "enhanced" version of
CPR.
Ignoring past experiences I installed it, big mistake! I didn't say
anything
about control problems, I just hit the wall at 200 mph to see what
happens.
Then to bounce off the wall like a tennis ball made me deinstall the
game.
I hope you can live with that. BTW, I NEVER had to do anything to make a
Papy sim drivable, they just ARE... ;^)

Wow - that MS CPR is a realistic simulation! I doubt even Mr Zanardi
could manage inches from the wall at 225mph for an entire lap!
Do you race for real? My experience with racing is just a bit of club
stuff on the weekends, but CPR is really laughable.
Lucky it's in the bargain bin at every store I go to - I've got quite a
collection of matching coasters.
On Topic - the problem with the head tilting feature in CPR was the
implementation. GPL also has a wider field of view than that "tunnel
vision" CPR uses to make it feel faster so it would just make it
harder to feel the car's motion. Also, I don't want the software deciding
where I'm pointing my head, your focus is not always the same as
you enter a given corner (esp in traffic).

No. I have the full version.
Papyrus, and others, are able to do something right.
Every sim other than CARTPR has run fine straight
out of the box. CARTPR never ran right on my
previous computer.
It was not a setup or controller setting problem, but
telling you that won't convince you. If it really
was only a matter of those settings, why did MS
ship it that way?
Your endless postings on this subject indicate
otherwise.
No. CARTPR control bad on some systems.

I think the biggest problem with this solution is that you will have trouble
getting a feel of how much the head is actually turned, which could make you
second guess how much your car have turned. When powersliding through a corner
in GPL you use the front view to "feel" how much the car is sliding. With the
view always pointing at the apex or nearby as in the panningview in CPR my bet
is that you would notice beginning spins far too late.
/Christer, is usually wrong, but still ;o)
