I can't believe it. My Klipsch ProMedia 5.1's have died. The amp has gone
bad. Klipsch only has a 1 year warranty so that, as they say, is that.
I have enjoyed these speakers, but I cannot bring myself to buy another set
of Klipsch's.
I bought mine when the ProMedia 5.1's first came out, and like hundreds of
others I got caught up in the manufacturing defect that caused the amps to
go bad. Klipsch handled it well, including hot-swap replacements, but these
are only 18 months to 2 years old and I'm out a $400 set of speakers.
I guess it's time for a set of Logitech's. I'd love to get the Z680's, but
I can't afford that kind of money right now.
I'm considering the Z-5300's. They are more in my price range.
Anyone have these ?
-Larry
You just wrote my email for me. Mine have died also. I wasn't aware of a
defect. Mine are also about 21 months old. I was going to call them to see
about the hot-swap replacement you mention. They should handle it well.
Only product and comany credibility is at stake.

I have a pair of Koss Dynamite speakers set up as the two front primary
speakers in a 5.1 system. I bought these in 1980. They still sound perfect,
although the trim is looking a little worse for wear.
Might want to consider these, they get good reviews too.

Well, Klipsch's warranty is only one year so it will certainly be a bonus if
they do anything for you.
Mine is the amp. The only thing coming out is a very small amount of
distorted bass, even at full volume :(

had a set of Inspire 5100s that failed 3 times - the first two within a year
(and were replaced uder warranty), but after the last repl. blew at abt. 15
months, I decided it was time to move on. Have a set of Logi Z680s and love
'em.

From what I'm reading on their Forum at their site, we are NOT the only
one's by a long shot, and it looks like Klipsh has overall been doing the
right thing.
I have emailed their support and supplied the serial number and PDF's of the
original purchase receipt and the replacement receipt from when they
replaced them the first time.
They do have a chance to retain me as a customer. Like I said, I REALLY
like the speakers but the problems with the original ProMedia 5.1 Amps have
been numerous for a lot of folks.

They are a sub / sat setup that, plain and simple, rock.
Tom Bonjour is selling these on eBay for ASL currently, for way below the
original retail.
I have several sets of Aego 2's, all on PC's in the house.
I also have a set of the Aego5 surround system for the kids TV and their
PS2.
Simply the best small speaker system I have ever owned.

Sorry, can't comment on the Z-5300, but I've had the Z-560 4.1 set for a
couple years now and can recommend it without reservation. Great powerful
base response, good directional ability, and as clean an amp as can be
expected for the money. Probably not the best for critical music listening
though, if that is important to you.
HTH,
arny
just buy the amp replacement from Klipsch. had the same probs with boston
caoustics and it was alot cheaper and better to just fix it. it should be an
easy fix for anybody
