I cannot get GPL to work at all I keep getting broken sound, and when I try
to start the game it just freezes and all I get is broken sound. I tried to
play with and without the 3dfx option and nothing. are there any
suggestions.

Sorry I should have put more info here goes.
btw I installed the game three times and still the same results, I get into
the opening screen and I see the track but when I press the final green
corner everything freezes but I think I get an updated image ever 30secons
or so and the sound is broken. this happens with all the default settings, I
have read the FAQ on D.B.'s GPL page and I can find anything anywhere why
this would happen. I have absolutely no problems with games like Unreal,
Prophecy, Viper Racing etc....

I'd start with removing some RAM. Try running the game with 32MB. GPL has
big problems with uncached RAM, so if your machine holds more RAM than the
L2 cache can handle, 'funny' things happen.
I don't have a VooDoo 2 board, so I can't tell you much about the drivers
you listed. Maybe someone else??

I've had similar problems in the middle of racing (apparent freezing and strange sound
problems) when I accidentally unplugged my wheel cable from the joystick port. I doubt your
problems are related, but I thought I'd mention it anyway.

OUCH! There we have it! DirectX6?! Get that shit offer yer HD, quick! So
many people had problems running GPL with DirectX6, no chance this bummer
will find it's pace to my system unless I really, really, really need it,
that's for sure.
WoW is anyone else running GPL with directX 6 ?

every game I have with no problems except GPL I cannot find any reason why
it just wont work. I'm just trying to see if someone else has similar
problems.

of Win98 to get GPL to work.
Worked with DX5 (from Win98) and after installing DX6.
