ISI adds cockpit view to Pro Sports Car Racing after feedback

Sim Racing Online's Marc Nelson reported that Image Space Inc. would add a cockpit view to Professional Sports Car Racing after reader feedback. Readers welcomed the news, and Art Axelrad praised the sim after six hours of driving. A side discussion covered rumours that Papyrus artwork might be outsourced to a CUC affiliate in Russia.

SRO News Flash! Image Space, Inc. has changed their minds and will include a***pit view for the release of PSCR! No word as to whether this will get into the demo, and the change may only be one generic dashboard, rather each specific vehicle (although ISI said they would look into it). ISI said this was based on the amount of mail received from people reading SRO's article [ [link lost in import: /]] and writing them that they weren't happy about the lack of an in-car view. Nobody at ISI uses it, and it surpised them to find how many people would want this feature. Thanks folks, for helping make a change in what looks to be a great sim! =) Cheers! Marc -- Marc J. Great!! There you go... we DO have a say in games(sims)... it's good to see a company like SLI listen to the potential market. Congrats, everyone who wrote! doktorB >SRO News Flash! What??? I wanted that bumper cam view!! Dam simplayers always wanting a in car view...that just ruined the game! I wanted to pretend I was a bumper cam the hole day and feel the car physics from that view..Damm you Marc Nelson you have caused all of this.<G> LOL........ Thank god they changed their decision..I could see it getting slamed hard core for not providing a in car. Mike
Thanks Marc ! I'm not a big potential PSCR fan but it's nice to know that us hard core simmers have a voice with some of these companies. SRO is definitely a leader in the Sim internet community ! Tim A. Deatherage "Admitted Sim ***"

Power to the press!. I will consider this sim now. Thanks, Mark > SRO News Flash! Not to worry, Mike...Your lame-ass arcade features will be there too, and I guess I'll have to drop by to show you where they are - You can pretend to be a real-arcade-racer once the sim is released (the only thing you can drive is me nuts!)...Guess I'll have to draw you a road map of the tracks as well? - Hint: Nearly as many rights as there are lefts, with a few short straights thrown in for good measure. ;) Doh!

FWIW, I got hooked on the Viper demo last night (using the simulation mode and both the in car view and the front bumper view) Now, I think that PSCR might be fun and worth buying.....therefore when will the demo be released and when is the scheduled release of the game/Sim? Tim A. Deatherage "Admitted Sim ***" >Wow! Thanks Tim! While I'm glad you think of us as a sim-leader, I should >point out that Art Axelrad probably had a few things to say to ISI<g>, and >that the SRO site is intended as a platform from which to give us all more >credibility, rather than someone simply saying "oh, you play games?" snip
Hi Tim, Viper's a good one for sure, and I look forward to looking into the files - that is, if I can find the time! =P I talked with ISI yesterday, and they're reworking the demo to include all (or most) of the changes in the final...Not sure if the in-car view will make it in (as per Gjon's message - apparently e-mail bombed to the whole sim community<g>), but most of the bugs will be worked out. Gjon said it's coming along quite well, and he appreciates all the feedback. Now all we need to do is bug the hell outta' EAI for Trans-Am Racing...Man, what a (sim) year - Someone pinch me! Cheers! This is their personal preference to drive this way. The nature of code monkeys is that they have a tendency to bury themselves into their work, and may not think (or realize) what a so-called die hard wants. One thing is apparent, that they listened to to the feedback sent, and reevaluated PSCR. Any way you slice it, it's a good thing, and one I wouldn't knock. Cheers! Marc

Well...Papyrus guys don't like using steering wheels...they (generally, I hear) prefer Joystick and Pedals...does that make GPL fatally flawed? Give it a chance...it could be a good game...the screenshots are certainly tantalizing... -- Neil Yeatman Ajax, Ontario, CANADA
> But I'm fed up with seeing "sims" hyped up only for them to fall well short > of the expectations raised. ATM it looks 50/50 that this is just going to > be another such case :( Good point, but it seems that PSCR may be beyond the 50% mark, having received a thumbs-up from an avid sim-head (Art Axelrad). Of course, the proof's in the pudding, and we can all decide once the demo's been released...or at least get an idea of what's to come. Like some, I hope this isn't just another CPR. Cheers! Oh, you don't trust ANY of the experienced guys on this ng praising this sim? It IS a great sim. No kidding. But all I said was "give it a chance". You have a problem with that? -- Neil Yeatman Ajax, Ontario, CANADA

I drove Professional Sports Car Racing for 6 hours and was very impressed, and this is from someone who thought the demo's of Viper Racing and Monaco Racing F1RS2 sucked pretty bad. You guys should be thankful there even is a Sports Car racing sim, I don't see anyone else making one. And I don't think its fair looking at one feature and pronouncing the game sucks because there is no this or no that. If everything we wanted to be in a sim was there it would take developers 10 years to make a sim. When GP3 comes out in 6 or 7 years people will still scream it doesn't have this or that. Just look at GPL, by far the best sim to date, I still can't believe I saw people on this NG saying some bad things about it, complaining it didn't have rain, weather effects, pit stops, and had bad multiplayer. I'm just kinda sick of all this negative crap. We spend some $2000-3000 on hardware in a 2 year span to play the latest sims, but in the last 2 years there has only been 3 sims released, lets see 1 was awesome, dont have to mention the name, other sucked bad, and third was ok. When a cool promising looking sim is about to come out we should support the developer, and maybe help them out (sending email to ISI helped get in-car view back in) to make sure the most important features get in. Most developers won't even listen. And ISI didn't have an easy road making this sim. Remember EA bought out ***, now go look at EA's site and tell me if you see anything about Professional Sports Car Racing, NO you probably won't see a thing. ISI had demo done a while ago but EA didn't give them permission to release it. If PSCR doesn't do good forget about a sequel with possibly Le Mans in there if they get the license. It would be nice having another company making good sims and not waiting 3 years for Papy to release an open wheel sim. And considering how CUC/Sierra looks there might not be a Papy for long. Laying off 30+ guys, moving Nascar 3 development to Russia, I'm sorry but what do Russias know about Nascar Racing, well I'm not a Nascar fan so I dont really give a shit, Though CART 2000 may be made by guys who really don't know the much about CART Racing, and you guys though CART Precision Racing was bad. Um...Nowhere did I mention either...What I said was this: "Much of the work that was once handled in Watertown might instead be going to a CUC affiliate in Russia, possibly in an attempt to trim the fat by lowering overhead, and ultimately making Papyrus more attractive to potential buyers." > Um, its just the art that may be farmed off to a subsiduary of CUC in > Russia. >> Excuse my ignorance, but what exactly was "the work that was once >> handled in Watertown"? >Watertown is a small town near Boston, and is where Papyrus is located. Meaning that most of Papyrus' work will be done in Russia in the future? ZIL racing? Moskwich Cup 2000? I was hoping that there maybe was just a small dependance of Papy in Watertown, being responsible for the artwork or cover design... I have to hope these rumors aren't true! Nothing against Russians in general, some of my best friends are Russians (no, that isn't true, but I know a few Russians and they are nice people AFAI can tell, only they drink a bit too much), but what do they know about NASCAR? Or cart? Or cars in general, for that matter? Please tell me it's not true! -- Wolfgang Preiss \ E-mail copies of replies to this posting are welcome.
From the info I have, only the artwork will/may be shipped there, but it's not a definite. Cheers! Marc
