Does anyone know a way around these problems? Do we have to complain to Codemasters about this to get action? How many of you have CMR and a Rendition card? ------------------------ I've just bought CMR after many weeks waiting for a demo which didn't come so when it was released I double checked this newsgroup to see if anyone had any problems with Rendition cards and since there was none I bought Colin McRae Rally as it also mentioned compatibility with Rendition on the box. What I found was: 1. horrible yellow dots around the wheels 2.Only runs as high as 512x384 3.Only runs in low detail mode 4.trees are made up of 3mm square green blocks etc.. But this is OK as it says these will happen in the readme file installed with the game. Quote from readme file: Rendition V2xxx --------------- Yellow broken line around the tyres on the cars where the textures join and also on the steering wheel in-car. All in-game text is slightly corrupted on these cards. Only supports 320*240 and 512*384 resolutions on 4Mb cards with Low Texture quality due to it using 16bit textures. Please use your manufacturers latest drivers. I think I heard of a problem with another game (Final Fantasy 7 I think) where the 16bit textures refered to a porting of a Playstation game which uses 8bit textures and not 16bit and the developers were not bothered by Rendition and other cards which could not handle 8 bit textures. The developer I believe finally fixed the problem after a huge backlash of users. Any comments? Rgds BlakDog _ ____ _ (_) / __ `/ / / / /_/ / / / \__, / /_/ /____/

I have already sent a message to codemasters before I made the original post but so far I have not received an answer. BTW: Everything else you said is pretty much ditto from me and our emails to Codemasters were very similar. (re: TOCA being great but now CMR should run better but...etc) I wonder how many other Rendition owners have the same problem. If I can't resolve this soon then I will take the game back and get Grand Prix Legends as the demo runs great at 800x600 AND has internet play. I even hassled Codemaster about the poor demo of CMR (44mb one) which they told me they didn't support and there would be a much better one (about 20mb) released shortly (which was 3 weeks ago and still not seen) I'll let you know if I hear anything. >I have a Rendition Card and just bought CMR myself. You've described my >frustration with codemasters to a tee. I think its outrageous that they >should release a game in the state it is in. It is clearly not finished - It >feels like we've been included in Beta testing or something. I sent a message >to Codemasters as follows. I suggest you send one too:
