I just upgraded from a Voodoo card to a Voodoo 2 card. Although my frame
rates have increased, I find that the steering has gotten pretty shaky and
jittery.
I've tried playing around with the linear slide bar, but it still shakes.
This happens at all resolutions.
My system is on overclocked Celeron 300A (to 450), and I'm using a Thomas
TSW Sport Wheel. I've done a full install of GPL, and I'm using the
"Generic" driver.
Any help would be appreciated.
Problem might be your Celeron : Voodoo2 is optimised for PII.
Celeron i think has smaller cache and may not allow voodoo2 to show its full
potential.
Also use the direct drivers if they work esp if playing over internet.
Cheers
Greg

worse, and it wasn't that good at 300 MHz either. Waiting for USB
wheels...

is only a few months old and hasn't been used heavily. Also, I have no
such problem in other games.
I checked th calibration in Win95 also, and it seems OK.
BTW -- just curious. What Win95 game controller setting do you use with
your TSW?
Thanks.
Yep. You hit it right on the head. My steering pot needed cleaning. I
sprayed in some carburetor cleaner and voila -- rock solid again.
Thanks!

I can vouch for Direct Input fixing jittery steering. I was hosting a couple
games (Nov 1) and basically lost 2 races due to jittery steering.
After the races, I tested my T2 with TMscope and it was perfect.
Tried a training run and no jitters. So I thought it was due to my
low-frame rate. I played a single race with 19 cars and the jitters
came back.
I remembered about the Generic Drivers stopping interrupts, so I switched
to the Direct Input driver. Voila! I played the same single player race with
NO jitters :)

I created two Custom Controllers in the Game Controller applet. Since
I have the 2/3 axis switch on my TSW, I created a "TSW 2 Axis" and
"TSW 3 Axis" controller.
Setting these up takes all of a few seconds each...and they're easy to
select, as they sit at the bottom of the list (you could probably name
them so they appear at the top, too).
