WORNG! <G>
Here is what to do:
1. Find a file called 3Ddata.dat (3dSetup dir)
2. Open it with Notepad
3. Change the line <Triple Buffer=0> into <Triple Buffer=1)
4. This will speed up the game a bit
5. Change the line <D3D-3Dfx=0> into <D3D-3Dfx=1>
6. Start 3DSetup.exe
7. Choose the card that you have (need to have Direct3D at the end)
8. Thank me :)
Now you should have a dashboard even if you have Voodoo2 8MB.

easy, run in direct3d mode by running nfs3 -d3dn where n is the number of
the video board you wish to use. if you have a 2d board and a 3dfx card,
the 3dfx is usually board 1 (the numbering starts at 0). you can do nfs3 -?
and get a list of all command switches.
