Redline Race Controls pedals back in production

Nigel Nichols announced that Redline Race Controls had resumed making alloy pedal units after a 13-month break, and some balked at the price of about $327. Owners including Goy Larsen and Sid Chapple strongly praised their top-hinged design and dual-spring brake pedal, comparing it to ECCI's PMB2 option. Nigel explained the weak dollar had raised US prices.

No kidding, and let's not forget $48.31 for shipping! They do look pretty cool though. Had me a set for a while now, and can say with absolute certainty that they're worth every penny. Start saving your money. <bg> -- See ya in the pits, Dean I have a terrible memory. Depends what you want, plastic crap or well made pedals? I paid $3400 for my Hypersim, these pedals are cheap! Never let me down the mileage I used to run I'd have got through 25sets of plastic tat by now. You get what you pay for. If your serious about sims youll find the cash for good equipment. As an owner of 3 ECCI units I've come to know if you want good quality you're going to pay for it. These pedals look very well made and the design is outstanding. Maybe some would consider them a better value if they came with a squash ball you could stuff behind the pedals...lol. I'm glad to see you're building your pedal units again Nigel. Hi folks After 13 months away I am back in the workshop working on another batch of pedal units. After selling our home (and workshop) and renting for a while(no workshop) and building our new home(and new workshop) I have finally got up and running again and I'm back on the job making high quality alloy pedals units. Certainly the US dollar is not helping me at present. The same unit was $280 US early last year. Lets go back to last year then! :) My main problem is this.. Sure, you can tell that they look realistic but it is hard to shell out that much cash without knowing how they will actually feel Some of you have said that you have had a set.. so.. what makes them better than others? I have a pretty good pair of pedals and I have owned a TSW2 at one point in time. So tell me honestly how/why they are so good? Tell me how the drop down design makes them feel.. The main point that makes them feel realistic is obviously that they are hinged at the top, like a real cars accelerator, brake and clutch pedals. Unlike most sim pedal systems that are hinged at the bottom. The double spring system on the brake also gives a realistic feel. You push the brake pedal down about 1/3 of the way and the second spring comes into play, making the pedal harder to push in and giving a feel very similar to real cars brake pedal. Once you have used them you understand why everyone that has a set raves about them. Sid. I agree, it's the brake pedal that makes them stand out from any commercial stuff I've tried, the smooth and accurate action of the gas pedal helps along with the incredible reliability, but if I had to point out one single item, it would be the feel of the brake pedal The second spring introduces the the pressure controlled brake pedal....or at least it tricks your brain into reacting in that way, I find it much easier to find the sweet spot on the brakes this way, not to mention that it's much easier to modulate the braking pressure and keep the brakes/wheels just at the point where they don't lock up Beers and cheers (uncle) Goy "goyl at nettx dot no" http://www.theuspits.com "A man is only as old as the woman he feels........" --Groucho Marx--
ECCI 6000 series PMB2 option has a similar effect at preventing braking lockups, though it uses a different type of mechanism. Mitch "Goy Larsen" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]...

That's what I've been told too, and while the method is different, the end result is the same, and people who haven't tried these systems usually don't get it, you get a "feel" for the brakes that's just unbelievable Some people have modified their various pedal sets with squash balls and stuff to get the same thing, and I know a couple of guys who have used springs from a Mini clutch assembly on their Logitech pedals .... Hi Ed, Matt :-D, all to get that important extra pressure for the brake pedal I modified my old CH Pro Pedals to get some of that feel as well and was quite happy with that, until someone posted a link to the RedLine pedals in here, and I knew I had to own a set of those, my brother took one look at mine when they arrived and placed an order as well :-D Beers and cheers (uncle) Goy "goyl at nettx dot no" http://www.theuspits.com "A man is only as old as the woman he feels........" --Groucho Marx--
I think ECCI is dropping the ball by not offering the 6000 pedals seperately any longer (or at least until they get production up). I lucked out because someone placed the order for the 6000 pedals adapted for a Momo force with PMB2 but never finalized the order. I just happened to call looking for a set of the 4000 pedals (Tractor pedals) for $199 which they didnt have so I JUMPED at the 6000's and have been wildly happy with them. I just sit and stare at em sometimes :-)~ Believe it or not its hard to get full enjoyment of these cause they are so transparent. They just feel so natural you forget about them and concentrate more on the sim/line youre running :-) Knowwhatimean vern? ;) Now that I think of it my enjoyment of F1C/mods a drastically increased since I recieved this pedal set. Could be because I can brake fully without the mass brake locks like before. Mitch "Goy Larsen" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]...

Hmm Are the redline pedals compatible with "stock" steering wheel units, (like a Thrustmaster, Logitech, TSW, momo, etc?). Are they compatible with gameport and USB wheels? How would you hook them up, for instance, to an old gameport wheel? Simple Y-cable? <Gibs> When you kill 6 people in Unreal Tournament it is "MonsterKill", In Quake3 it is "Excellent", in Counter-Strike it is "Kicked by console"

Mine are a special order so I could hook them up to a homemade wheel with a Thrustmaster wiring loom, I just forwarded the details to Nigel and he took care of the rest, that was over 4 years ago so I really don't know how he does this now Beers and cheers (uncle) Goy "goyl at nettx dot no" http://www.theuspits.com "A man is only as old as the woman he feels........" --Groucho Marx--

I'm guessing he got his car "clamped" for wrong parking ..... The Brits are serious about their parking regs, if you're really unlucky they'll put a lock/clamp on one of your wheels with a note telling you who to call to come and "unclamp" it and what it's going to cost you ..... fine to paid on the spot I believe, and there's no telling how long it will take before the clamping crew get around to *your* car Beers and cheers (uncle) Goy "goyl at nettx dot no" http://www.theuspits.com "A man is only as old as the woman he feels........" --Groucho Marx--

Wouldn't surprise, personally I'd be happy to go "Dutch" with someone who's looking for the ECCI pedals as I may be in the market for a ECCI wheel myself, but since I already have the best pedals....:-D Beers and cheers (uncle) Goy "goyl at nettx dot no" http://www.theuspits.com "A man is only as old as the woman he feels........" --Groucho Marx--

Thats a great idea and I hate to be the bearer of bad news but I believe all of the electronics are in the wheel. This is what I was after initially but they didnt offer standalone USB pedals ATM. What I'll end up doing after both my Momo's die is rip out the power supply from the orig pedals and the electronics from the Wheel and mount them in a plastic radio shack box then I can attach the box to the pedals. I'd have to disagree about which pedals are "BEST" ;) Looks DO MATTER <g> I like FF effects so my next wheel will likely be the BRD Speed7 if it lives up to the hype. Nail hit on head. Been using the same "bad" space for 5 years so count myself in pocket - especially with the general 15ish per day it costs for a legit space... It was fair enough - no way am I gonna argue that I was in the right. Can't think of anything more futile than arguing with a clamper! Cheers, Mark V8Thunder.com
