A couple of my games don't work I think because of the unstablelity of
Direct X 6 ...
How do i uninstall Direct X 6 and get back my direct x 5 ?
Thanks.
Try this NG microsoft.public.directx. I've seen some people mention an
uninstaller there.

Simplest method would be to format c:
However I've had Direct X 6 running for a while and it seems more stable
than X 5. Do some hardware compatibility tests and change the debug levels
if your games keep on crashing (Direct X Setup option etcs).

Am I missing something or what. Can you not download 5 and
reinstall?

There's an uninstall program floating about on the web. Try a yahoo
search (or dejanews search). As far as I know, however, the only Microsoft
sanctioned way to do this is to reformat your harddrive.

The DX setup does a version check, and if you're trying to install an
older version, it just ignores you. Uninstalling DX6 is almost
impossible too - even trying it from the System/Remove Programs icon.
It just like the Justice Dept says! You can't get the goddam
Microsoft outta your computer!!!

You are missing something but it isn't related to DirectX. You are
missing the fact that the subject line of a Usenet post is there to
*INFORM* others of the topic of said post, and that it should ONLY
ever be changed if the topic changes.
Because I expect others to conform to this policy I have set my Agent
options so that a new thread is indicated whenever the subject is
changed. However, you keep changing the subject in your threads
without actually changing the topic. Please stop that and keep your
creative wit to the contents of your post, rather than the subject
line. Thank you.

Now that was the response I was looking for :)

Is that what you were looking for?
Seriously, I will try not to change the subject line in the
future...unless of course I plan on changing the subject ;)

Has anyone tried monitoring the installation with a third-party install
monitoring program like Quarterdeck Cleansweep? It is supposed to be able to
uninstall and recover the exact state of your puter before you installed a
program...
