Hi, The first demos (monza and WG) with Win95 osr1 worked very well (about 20fps (estimate) detail bias maxi, all objects, 640*480) with a phoenix banshee, P166 (non MMX), 96ram. The win98 demo sucks (same PC, HD faster...) about 8fps with the same setup UNLESS SHADOWS! we can't disable shadows in the new demo? and in the game? (same swap config: 300mg fix and same vcache config <- very important for people who didn't try this yet: see http://www.f1racingsim.com/ anyone compared the new demo vs the old ones and find some differencies? I tried it as soon as I heard the NEW demo was out. On my P2-233, 64MB, Stealth II S220 (Rendition 4mb), with ALL-details maxed out, 10 sounds, FULL-bias, I get (in the NEW demo): resolution, I can only top out at 28 fps. Even with detail-bias at 1%, mirrors to "cars & track", 1 sound, etc. - still 28 fps. Thinking about it now, it's the same for me In the final version. With 19 seems I just can't top it. Anyone else see this happening? Can anyone offer an explanation? Thanks, doktorB http://webhome.idirect.com/~drbryan/gpl
Must be something seriously wrong with my set-up then, AMDK6-2 3d 300 O/c to 333 with 128mb ram Monster 3dfx 1 and with 5 Ai`s and detail at 50% some textures turned off 800X600 I`m lucky to see 14-20 fps incar and 20-36 outside view at monza. Russ.

Not sure, for GPL rendition card is better than voodoo 1 (i think have read this) and P2 is better in FPU (but with a 100MHz difference i have some doubts) but like i said in my initial post some little things in the windows setup change a lot the fps: fix swap file (even with lot of ram) and the vcache setup (i don't know which one is the most important i always did them in same time) you have both win98? If someone has another tips to increase fps? Seb

My guess is that your video card is maxxed out. I had similar experience with my Reactor V1000 (overclocking my C300A to 450 MHz wouldn't substantially change my frame rate). You have a faster card, but you still have only 4 meg of memory. When you go to the higher res, it can only handle so much screen memory, so many textures, etc. NAR Northeast Regional Contest Board site - points and more...
