Hi!
I just picked up the PCI 128 because I was not happy with 2speaker
3D sound. While this card works great with all other games, e.g.
Q2, Unreal, MGPR2, there are problems in GPL. Sitting in the middle
of the noise produced by the Ferrari is amazing, but there are
clicks and pops and sometimes the sound completly goes bananas.
I know that GPL doesn't support 3D sound, but all 4 speakers are used.
I alread got the latest drivers from Creative. Anybody have the
same problems and a solution?

Your problem IS the latest drivers from Creative. Use the original drivers
and GPL sound will be perfect...but then you'll have problems with lots of
other apps. and games. Some year, CL will release drivers that fix most of
the problems with these very frustrating cards.

I had the SB PCI 64 built in on my new PC's motherboard. Got a TB Montego
(Vortex A3D) when the SB PCI wouldn't work right with my joysticks and some
other flakiness. I kept wondering if I just blew $100 on the thing when I
coulda just waited for a better driver for the SB....the more I read about
SB and new drivers, I feel really glad I got the Montego :-) Well if the SB
Live Value had been out or the newer Vortex cards like the Diamond MX300, I
might've liked one of those with the 4-speaker sound but oh well.....
I have no clue how Creative got these things so screwy, it seemed the
Ensoniq Audio PCI was pretty stable and pretty good for the $35 you could
find them for. Creative comes in and buys Ensoniq, makes what, 4 or 5
different cards based on the Audio PCI chipset with "enhanced" drivers and a
jacked up price, OR the crippled version of the chipset that doesn't do 4
speakers and it seems has some other problems, the cheapest of these about
$45. And sheer confusion as to what you're getting, when the cards are so
similar in actuallity. What a mess......
