I would very much appreciate that fortunate owners/users of this product
(maybe the Australian people is in the best position for that) could let
me know about their experiences on it, also on the durability side.
Big question is: Is it worth the huge investment? Is it too
oversensitive in steering? Does it work that well with GPL? What about
the pedals?
Thanks in advance.

Ok, I'll try....
For so far, yes. (Fl 5000 is USD 2500, Clark classic)
I play GPL almost full linear. You can adjust the "stiffnes" of the
steering wheel. No, it's not oversensitive at all. But, try before you
buy, your opinion may differ.
As I said I've the Clark classis. It has a sequential shifter, and
flippers behind the wheel. I use the shifter for gears, and the
flippers for looking left and right. Using the flipper for gears could
improve the laptimes, but I like the more realistic way of shifting.
The brake has a very short travel, less than an inch. It's pressure
sensitive, so it is more easy to brake against the lockup.
The throttle has a long and smooth travel.
One more note: When using a wheel mounted to the desk, like the
Thrustmaster wheels, after an 1/2 houre I feel cramped. With the HS I
can race for 12 houres, and don't feel a thing. (I actually did that,
the day GPL came out. I started at 6:00 pm, and I could believe it was
6.00 am the next time a checked the clock :-) Fortunally the next day
was a Saturday)
About the durability...I've only got it for three weeks, everything
still works.
Remco
I have to agree with what Remco said.
I've had mine for abut 2 months now, and I can't imagine driving anything
else.
Yes, they cost a lot, but you get what you pay for. It's quite comfortable
over the long hall, and is built to a VERY high level of quality. Mine is a
highly optioned 3000 model, that also has the sequential shifter. Using the
shifter makes GPL a REAL treat to play (although I STILL have laughably low
frame rates).
There are a few other downsides as well ... they weigh a lot, and they do
take up a lot of space. Luckily they are very pleasing on the eyes.
I can't recommend the HyperStimulator enough ... it just might be the
Ferrari of the Sim world. Expensive, yes, but molto bellissima!!

I've had mine for 3 years, haven't had a problem.
The investment doesn't have to be that huge, the basic kit, which
requires you to cut the chassis pieces out of MDF from a set of full
size plans, is $795 here in Australia and $500 in the US, that
compares very favourably with other top end driving controllers.
And with those other controllers, you still just have a steering wheel
clamped to a desk.
Steering and pedal feel is excellent, brake pedal feels like a brake
pedal should. This may annoy people but if you haven't experienced
GPL in a Hyperstimulator then you have no idea how good it can really
be.
<snip raving from Hyper owner>
If you live in Oz you can try them at a race center in all the best capital
cities...dooin this myself real soon now!
If you don't.....bad luck on more counts than just your
controller.....hehehehe
Ben
This is the best controler in the world. It has the best feel to the
brake pedal, just like a real race car. The brale pedal pressure get
stiffer just as the wheels will lock in Gpl and you can get the most out of
your brakeing. You can sit in it for hours and don't feel uncomfortable
(until you get out after 4 or 5 hours that is).
These thing are very reliable because where i go to use them (a place
called RACENETT in sydney) that have has four for about 2 years getting used
for about 5-10 hours a day six day's a week and are still in as good
condition as new. I think they have only had to replace the steering pots a
couple of times as you cant expect something that is constantly moving to
last with that much use.
If you can afford one buy one !!!!

resellers
world wide and your local reseller may let you try it.

center in Melbourne for some reason.. even though I live 5min from the
Hyperstim head office!) Even in that shot time I notices it has amazing feel
in both pedals, the brake is very stiff and almost feels like its force
feeback. The wheel was very smooth and accurate but had some squeaks and
stiffness but I dont know how used or old this demo model was. Seat was
"Really" comfortable, I have a bad back and had no trouble with it at all.
I wish I had one :(
