GPL freezes before i can play

when i load the game, it goes straight to the player info screen where it freezes and will not let me go any further. I have to turn the computer off at the wall to get out. please help system p2 400 win 98 with dx6 128 meg ram voodoo 2 8meg with dx6 voodoo2 drivers, glide 2.54 & 3.01 matrox g100 8 meg

ted, some people have reported problems with new DX6 V2 drivers. I'd suggest giving them a miss (for the moment) Z>.

I had the same problem with it freezing with the new DX6 V2 Drivers with a CL V2 12Mb. I replaced the new drivers with an older version and now have no problems... Bob Young Jr.

The problem is the new Voodoo2 DX6 driver. Get older Voodoo2 drivers. GPL works fine with them. Btw, for me GPL works with the new DX6 drivers, if I delete the glide3x.dll file from windows\system. Well, almost works: no freezes, but mouse trails in the menus.

Interesting. The freezes seem to be in the player and team info screens but you can get back to them without a problem once you've gone into the game. Bizzarre! Nice tip about the Glide 3x.dll. What is the file Glide3x.dll for anyway? Is it safe to remove? Bob Young Jr.

It enables Glide 3 support. The DX6 driver includes Glide 3.01 and the older driver (7/6/98) has Glide 3.0. Maybe we could try using the new DX6 driver set, but replace glide3x.dll with the older version dated 7/6/98. Just a thought. Haven't tried it yet. I don't understand, why this file affects GPL. AFAIK, GPL needs only Glide 2.43 (glide2x.dll). Does GPL use Glide 3 features, if they are available?
