blue flags in multiplayer races?

Is it just me or are the blue flags not being waved during multiplayer races. It can be difficult for all concerned, not knowing if you are racing for position or (gasp) being lapped:) Guy Leach

However (for you that are trying to lap), we can only see them when a track marshall/worker is about, so don't get in too much of a hurry to pass us slower guys until we have had a chance to see a blue flag. And then try not to get too impatient. Since we are being lapped, odds are that we aren't as confident and good as you are, and we may be waiting for a part of the track where we feel in control enough to move off the line and let you through. There's no need in our "lunging" off line only to cause a spin and take you out at the same time. -- **************************** Michael E. Talking of blue flags. I noticed during practise that whenever an AI car is behind me the blue flag is being waved, but when I'm behind an AI car.. nothing happens. Could it be that you only see the blue flag when you have to let someone pass? In multiplayer this would mean that the driver to be passed would see the blue flag, but the other one wouldn't. Does anyone have the answer? // Johan > Is it just me or are the blue flags not being waved during multiplayer > races. > It can be difficult for all concerned, not knowing if you are racing for > position or (gasp) being lapped:) > Guy Leach
The way the documentation puts it is that you ONLY see flags when they are directed at YOU. That way, there is no confusion with black flags, etc., they are always intended for you. - Matt WB: =para=

I was racing at Silverstone last night and in qualifying was on possibly my best lap of the session when I came across a Ferrari apparently looking for a nice picnic spot. Round the outside I went at Abbey, upside down I went at bridge and back to the pits I went for a new car. My point is that it'd be nice if AI cars got blue flagged and they actually got the hell out of my way. Also, it's a bit strange to be blue flagged when a slower car is behind you just because you got a corner wrong. I don't think anyone would blue flag any of the Big 4 teams in F1 if, after an off, a Minardi came up behind them. It may be easier for the player, but maybe Papyrus can make it realistic in a patch? That explains it! Thanks. btw. Where did you find it in the docs? I don't recall reading it. // Johan

% The way the documentation puts it is that you ONLY % see flags when they are directed at YOU. That way, there is % no confusion with black flags, etc., they are always intended for you. Also, a note for the fast guys... It would appear that warning flags (including the green) take precedent over the blue flag. During a very messy lap at the Glen last night, every marshall was busy waving a warning flag (I thought the race was over <G>) and there was someone pushing to get by me. However, a blue flag never appeared until the wrecking stopped. -- **************************** Michael E. Under practice conditions, the blue flag is waved anytime you are slower than someone approaching you. Consider it an advisory that there is someone on your tail (in case you forgot to check-six). % It may be easier for the player, but maybe Papyrus can make it realistic in a % patch? I think under practice this is realistic. Considering that everyone is usually attempting to get a good run for grid position, it's only fair not to hold them up (and that includes the Minardis <G>). -- **************************** Michael E.
