I've seen lots of posts for the lap times people have set but only fleeting
references to the cars they were in at the time....
Is there a big difference between the cars? Are some much quicker/easier to
drive than others or does it depend on driving style? (My own style usually
consists of flying across the grass at various angles).....
What order would they be in if you had to rank them?
Interested to hear your views.....
Pete
IMHO, fastest to slowest:
Lotus
Eagle
Ferrari or Brabham (not sure which of these two is fastest)
Coventry/Cooper
Murasama/Honda
BRM
For sliding across grass fast, I would pick the Lotus. For sliding in
style, I'd go with the Ferarri.

I think it all depends on your driving style. I think the Lotus is
probably the raw "fastest" car since most of the record hotlap drivers
seem to use it for hotlaps, but personally I find the handling of the Lotus
is too nervous for me to drive consistently, so I choose to drive the
Eagle due to the "decent" handling combined with good supply of
power. I've also driven the Ferrari which also looks like it has great
controllable handling and great medium range power, just not as much
top end, which means it could be great at twisty tracks where you are not
concentrating on top speed.
For me, the question is less which car is the absolute fastest, but
which car can I drive consistently fastest at most of the tracks.
In online racing GPL so far, I've even been on the grid 3rd or 4th place
eagle with a couple of lotuses ahead and managed to pull off a win with
consistent driving, not even having the fastest lap of the race. Personally
this is more satisfying than getting fastest lap and crashing a lot. But that
might be just me.
Eventually I hope to master all the cars in GPL, I can tell that like GP2,
I will be playing GPL for a long time to come. I'm just glad that Papyrus
chose to model the different feeling car models since this will give
GPL a whole added dimension in mastering the different cars as well
as mastering the tracks.
Seeyas on the track.

I agree, the BRM handles quite well on the grass and in the ditch,
and is OK through the air :-).
I would say though that the Lotus should be much higher on the list *if* you
can drive it.... I can't, to be honest, except for the odd time I do put
in a clean lap and can stick to a good line, it's usually the 'fastest'
laps I post, I wish I could drive it cleanly consistently in a race
situation. For me, the top two are Eagle/Brabham. I would rank the Eagle
only slightly higher, just because I find it is much more comfortable for
me to hop in and do a race (from a decent starting pos. to a full lap
finish). I prefer to finish 75% of the races in the top 10 or so, then to
DNF on 50%, but place in the top 5.

lotus
ferrari
eagle
then others
of course it fdepends on your driving style too.
