Well I picked up the MS FF wheel today, and will return it tomorrow.
Now before everyone that loves it jumps on me, there are a few reason
it won't work for _me_.
1st: It won't work with a Joyswitch. (I was almost expecting this)
I enjoy flightsims as much as racing sims, and I can't live without my
joyswitch. (which lets me switch between my wheel, and flight gear
with the flip of a switch)
2nd: The clamp (while nice) won't work with my keyboard drawer. I
could remove the drawer or even move it, but no use. (My TM Pro wheel
fits fine BTW) (because of #1)
3rd: The wires! It would have been nice if they could at least made
the AC adapter plug into the base, instead of the wheel. I suppose a
USB version would solve this?
Those are the main reasons I am returning it. (actually number 1)
However, the base (pedal and gas) _seems_ very cheap. For a $200
wheel I would expect better.
The wheel itself has a bit of play in it. Enough to be annoying, but
with FF effects or even with the resistance enabled you won't feel it.
So that might be a moot point, but it made me question the quality.
Of course this is all IMO. The wheel has received some great reviews
both from magazines, and people on this news group so they must have
done something right. It jus isn't for me. Maybe I'll try the USB
version. That would solve my joyswitch problem, and hopefully remove
some of the wires.

I am assuming it is like the sidewinder FFPro, meaning that it uses all of
the pins on the joystick/midi port. You need a joystick switch that support
midi devices. One such beast is the J-Link by QuickShot. I use that with my
ffpro, saitek and tm nprw and everyone seems to get along just fine.

car/fsimmer here too! How do you make the switch??? I have CH Pro
pedals that switch between car/fsim mode but I couldn't make Win 95
understand both. I tried to make two HW configurations with different
Joystick drivers but when I change the driver in one HW config and
reboot to the other it has changed there too! How do you make win9*
detect the correct mode?

The switch is something I bought. The one I have is called a
Joyswitch and allows for 4 joysticks. All you do with flip the switch
to the combo you want to use, then in Win95/98 pick that same combo
from the list of joysticks.
