Start a GPL newsgroup!!!

Why don't all you GPL lovers start your own NG instead of filling this one with GPL messages!! Don't get me wrong ,i don't dislike GPL but if you look at this NG seems there is no other sim around at the moment!! -- Greetings :) ___ RuuD? Other sims? I thought this WAS the GPL newsgroup! ;)

Don't worry RuuD (nice name), soon it will be another sim dominating this ng. Actually, Outlook Express will filter out things based on Subject or From. Won't filter based on the actual text of the message, but most GPL posts will have GPL in the title, so most could be filtered with Outlook. Of course I want all the info I can get, so won't be filtering it anytime soon <g>. But I did put this to good use to filter out most of the off-topic posts in the Voodoo 2 newsgroup, and all the Derek Smart / BC3K stuff in the strategy newsgroups, so it does work, although probably not as well as Agent. We go through this everytime there is a new good sim out, don't worry the GPL level will go down in a few weeks, meantime if you don't want to see GPL posts add GPL to your kill file/filter and there you go problem solved. Actually, Outlook Express does allow filtering of the type you describe, rrevved. (And probably more, but I don't filter much--I like to know what I'm ignoring. <g>) I just filtered out "GPL" in message headers on Outlook Express to see if it works, and it does. Jerry Morelock

Whats the big deal. When Nascar2 came out I had to sift through thousands of messages from Redneck-BillyBob-Hillbillys expounding on how great a sim it is, when Nascar is a just drivin around in circles around the Walmart parking lot sport. I didn't mind and I went and bought the game.

alt.GAMES.gplegends???? I thought we all agreed on GPL being sim, not a game :-) // Johan

Actually it is for NFS3, and such. ;) Z.

Unfortunately that newsgroup is used as a social yaking post (nothing wrong with that if done in moderation) by about 5-6 regulars who each post dozens of messages a day totally unrelated to GPL and answer their own posts with multiple messages. I too was e***d initially by that newsgroup and promoted it to others but now I am having second thoughts. Nafi is correct! Yesterday 2 guys posted over 125 messages --WOW! I made the "mistake" of posting my sentiments about the "yacking" and got flamed (only lightly as I am somewhat of a "dimwit" <g>).
